Considering my cop cousin, and his wife, and his mother, and a cop wife friend, dropped me in a hot second on fb last fall after a couple pro-BLM posts (I have never been remotely anti-cop, as if I need to ever say), I would say that no, they can't.

Yup, me too. Cop's wife dropped me because I was posting too many BLM and was therefore anti-police (even though I posted an equal number of "look at this nice police officer helping/doing/being..." posts and historically had years of pro-police posts on FB. I've been d-listed on a couple PTA committees too now, from the look of things. C'est la vie. Middle school and other charities get that much more of me.
That BLM sign was so offensive, they had to lay down.
These officers are so sensitive. Someone get a cool washcloth and some smelling salts.
And once again, BLACK LIVES MATTER DOESN'T MEAN YOURS DOESN'T! Stop being so simple. I can't believe we are STILL arguing about this statement. Three words. All true. Yet they irritate people so.

yea, that's silly & dramatic.
I wish the candidates had used the BLM vs. ALM question at the debate to offer more substance & give people some better talking points.
They aren't mutually exclusive & BLM is no way a license to attack officers. It's only recognizing the violence that has systemically been brought against POC by our police AND justice system. It's about accountability for society when when a POC is wrongly killed- which happens on a weekly (daily?) basis & saying we should treat their deaths as seriously as we treat the deaths of officers in the line of duty.

Yuck. Why do 't people understand that the point of BLM isn't that black loves matter more than all others but that they shouldn't matter less, which they currently seem to.
You would think that a profession that requires you to carry a gun and interact with people from all walks of life on a daily basis would require individuals who are not as easily offended as this.
To be fair this is the Fraternal Order of Police and not the Fairfax County Police Department. Let's place the blame where it belongs.
The what now? What's the difference?
The Fraternal Order of Police is basically a fraternity or a Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes for people that work as police officers. The Fairfax County Police Department is the Government entity that employs the officers.
I first read it was the PD and that pissed me off, the FOP...not unexpected unfortunately.
Fraternal Order of Police does fundraising for cops, works to lobby for the police, etc, and is made up primarily of officers. My understanding is that It's basically a club that officers can join to help promote and fundraise. You know those phone calls you receive asking for donations for police officers, that's from the FOP.

This reminded me of the Daily Show segment that Trevor Noah (whom I'm learning to really love - his segments/comedy are great, but his interviewing needs a little more time) did on the Million Man March commenmoration. It's slogan was "Justice or Else" and the "or Else" was interpreted VERY different by white people (violence, riots, fighting, etc.) vs. what it was by organizers and black people (boycotts to major industry/stores to get them to change their minds and help change society). It's worth a watch to realize that white people, even liberal ones, still have bias that says black people are violent by nature.

I read the Cox Farms response on Facebook and thought it was great. If Centerville wasn't such a schlep and we didn't already have plans to go to similar farms in MD I'd visit just to support them.
I've already been once this fall and need to go back. Between people complaining about this and boycotting because Cox Farms doesn't allow guns at on their premises (because God forbid you go to the pumpkin patch without your gun), it makes me want to go even more to show my support.

Id totally support them if I lived close for both things!
This is all ridiculous. Boycotting them for a sign like that? Give me a break.
