This is the second time in recent months that pornographic audio invaded a Target in California. In July, much the same happened at a Target in San Luis Obispo, 185 miles to the south. Police were called to the store, which was briefly evacuated until staff silenced the bawdy broadcast.
Someone explain loudspeakers to me. Doesn't someone have to push a button and talk into something to get it to broadcast? Is someone sitting in a room playing this into a microphone?
Or is it a hackable system that can be controlled from outside?

When I worked retail we played music over a system and just flipped a button and it played on a repeat all day. I'm guessing this was similar, I'm just not sure why they weren't able to turn it off.
This is just plain weird. I can't believe there just wasn't an off switch or something. But I probably would have been the inappropriate one who started laughing uncontrollable. Also, I don't have kids; if I did, I'd probably have a different reaction.

I have a kid and I would have laughed. But I'm an asshole. ETA-and then I would have removed my preshusss from the premises asap. Lol.
I can't get the link to open so sorry if this was addressed in the article but was this two store employees going at it on someone's desk and they hit the audio button or what?

If it's muzak, it's a set-up like sirius/xm-- so they have a receiver/speaker system. Which would make it hackable.
I find it hard to believe they couldn't turn it off though, you'd think they'd have at least volume control.

The article is C&Ped in full right under the link.
sorry, I thought that was just part of the article - didn't realize it was the full thing.
I've worked at Target and they have a pa system with multiple microphones throughout the building. Guest service, fitting room, in the employee office. Also the red courtesy phones can access the pa system as well.
I watched the video and it sounds like it's the audio from a porn movie. I could be wrong but either they've been hacked or someone is playing a porn movie through their phone and blasting it on the PA system.

Ha this would make me crack up. I mean, I don't have kids, and if I did, I would probably not be crazy about them hearing this.
But lol. I mean, yes, it's inappropriate to play this at Target obviously, but I feel like some of the customers are taking life way too seriously in this article.
