Michelle I AM NOT HERE FOR these fucking managers who want the title and salary but don't want to actually manage.
TELL ME ABOUT IT!
The attorneys are the worst, too.
You have only ONE non exempt employee and you don't want to approve their time?? You want HR to do it? NO SIR, that is a conflict of interest which leaves us exposed come audit time.
My mom said, "You realize you guys are dorks, right?"
What exactly is involved in a Harry Potter Bar Crawl?
So, a small college near me has a Harry Potter academic conference which coincides with a college quidditch tournament every year. True story. The surrounding area has adopted this and does HP themed things all weekend.
The bar crawl involves 5-6 different bars, and a lot of them will have Harry Potter themed specials. We also get a wand and t-shirt, I think? A lot of the stores and restaurants are also transforming into HP-themed businesses for the weekend (like the Hogshead, Leaky Cauldron, Honeydukes, etc).
Bar crawl tickets sell out early every year! I was online at 9am exactly when they went on sale.
You can still just... show up at the bars, though. You don't get the extra stuff or the map of locations without the ticket, though.
This still is not enough information.
What is involved in a Harry Potter pub crawl? Are there pubs wherever you live that participate in various Harry Potter themes to support the crawl? Or do you just dress like HP characters and do the pub crawl? Where do you live where there are HP pub crawls? How does one find out about this?

thank you!
The bars do themed specials and some of them might be decorated like places in Harry Potter.
I no longer own Harry Potter clothing, but I expect a lot of people will be dressed up. I'm going to wear my "Bellatrix" lip stain (dark purple) from LA Splash and hope that will suffice.

Speaking of trick o' treating, my H's studio is in one of the most popular 'hoods in the city for this. We love giving out candy there. We get about 800-1,000 kids!
Which means I gotta get on it with our costumes.
My mom and I are going to a gilt warehouse sale tomorrow and I'm excited for shopping.
I only have one client all day and I'm super bored. I should've stayed home today too.

I googled it before I knew you were in that area and came across this - it looks like so much fun. I mean, like enough fun that I might have to plan an October visit just to be able to go. Because I'm a Harry Potter freak like that and my daughter is too.

Just laughed until I cried watching this jimmy Fallon bit.
They have kids write short scripts knowing nothing but the title of a movie the guest is in, and then jimmy and that guest perform them. This is with Tom Hanks and Bridge of Spies.

So what we've learned here is that your H was an asshole kid who did shit like egg houses?
I go full size when we're home to hand out candy. We get less than a dozen kids and their reactions are PRICELESS. Costco has good prices on a big box of mixed bars, so I see no reason not to.
What kind of prices are we talking about? I see Amazon is about $1/bar for the full sized Mars or Hershey.
We will be in Salem for Halloween this year, actually. I've never been at my current house for Halloween, but maybe next year. I have no idea how many kids we'd get. I guess I should ask the neighbors. My mom gets about 200 in a good year, which is a LOT of candy. I might want to start saving for full sized bars now!
"Not gonna lie; I kind of keep expecting you to post one day that you threw down on someone who clearly had no idea that today was NOT THEIR DAY." ~dontcallmeshirley

You're going to be in Salem? Lucky.
Yes. It will probably be a mob scene, but my SIL is running a race in the morning, so she will give us an early ride. Also, she knows someone who has a restaurant there so hopefully we will have an in. My in-laws live in suburban Boston. We were supposed to go last year, but I had awful back issues and couldn't walk or stand very long.
