For those who don't know or remember, Jill and Derick departed for Latin America shortly after the Joshly Madison scandal broke. Derick abruptly resigned from his corporate accounting position at Walmart and began soliciting donations for "missionary work." They supposedly departed the States in July. Eyebrows were raised when Instagram posts showed them back in the States for the weddings of Michaela Bates (in August) and Amy Jordyn (daughter of Jim Bob's sister) in September.
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard have continually come under fire for soliciting fans for donations to fund their “mission work” — which some believe is a thinly veiled disguise for a family vacation.
And now, they’ve offered some kind of compensation for those who are angry with the situation — they’ve added a “request a refund” option on their website’s donation page.
As In Touch Weekly previously reported, little Israel’s parents’ work in Central America was not considered sufficient enough for them to be endorsed as “missionaries” by their own church.
Even though they have begun offering refunds for frustrated fans, it’s worth noting that their donation page is still up and running — so it would appear they are to continue moving forward with their fundraising and work in Central America.
