I think the answer depends on the quality of the sheets. Our nice set which was $80 is still in perfect condition after 5 years. Not faded, not pilled.
Our $20 target set is hard to fit on the mattress because of shrinking and it is getting thin by the feet. This one is only 2.5 years old and used less.

Yeah I guess my question is for all types of quality. I currently have one good set (gift, IDK what they cost but a lot) and it is maybe 5 years old now? 4? I forget. I feel like it should be holding up A LOT better than it is. My cheap ones that I got on Amazon seem to be doing better. I guess I just realized I have no idea what "normal" life is for sheets that you use regularly.
Sheets- we have nice ones from our wedding that are still in good shape, 4.5 yrs, and we have cheaper ones that last us 1-3 yrs. I just bought a new set that's nicer so hopefully they last a while.

I had some sheets for about 6 years before they started to get a huge hole in them. I think there was another sheet that wore out within a year. We just got some super cheap sheets from a co-op so we'll see how long they hold up. Even if they only last a year the price was so worth it. They are really soft too!
I don't know that we've ever worn out a pair of sheets. We always end up replacing them for a different color scheme before they get so old that we can't use them anymore.
