I am starting The Lake House by Kate Morton. In theory I started it last night, but actually I turned a few pages and then gave up and went to sleep. I just finished Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, who wrote the Grisha trilogy (which I adored). I liked it but it wasn't anything spectacular.
QOTW: It depends on where they are and how much effort they've made. Some spiders work so hard to be in our house that I feel bad squishing them, so they get a chance on the outside. Others get squished immediately. The creepy fast-moving kind: always squish, because that's just not right.
I just finished The Storied Life of AJ Fikry which I really enjoyed. Some schmaltz, but not too bad. I just started What Alice Forgot, and I'm not far enough in to make a decision.
Depends on my mood with the spiders and where in my house they are.

I finished Go Set a Watchman this week. It lived up to the mediocre hype (lots of racist language, not enough plot). I have Ember in the Ashes to read next.
QOTW: The spiders where I live are usually tiny and inoffensive, so I ignore them.
QOTD: neither. I suck them up in the vacuum. DH relocates. When my 2 yr old sees one, she says "mommy vacuum?" Or "daddy cup?" Depending on who's around.
I'm reading The Door in the Hedge by Robin McKinley because I saw it advertised on my library's web site and brought back childhood memories. I stull have time to pick a scary book for Halloween, right?
I'm listening to Gone Girl and really liking it. The audiobook is well done.
QOTW: relocate, always. Well occasionally just ignore but H is afraid of them so I usually move them out of his way.

I'm reading 1984. It's okay, but I'll be just as happy when I'm finished with it. I'm really just not a fan of dystopian novels.
QOTW: Unless it's a huntsman or similar-sized spider, I squish indiscriminately. DH relocates always, which means that he's on drop everything and relocate duty or I squish them.
I'm reading Persepolis, which is interesting because I basically know nothing about the Iranian Revolution. I also picked the Left Hand of Darkness back up, and now that I'm a little further into it I'm enjoying it (although I do think it's a bit confusing because there are so many made up terms I'm unfamiliar with).
QOTW: I have terrible arachnophobia, so I kill spiders. Relocating them just gives them the opportunity to sneak back into my house and/or make more spider babies. Except for cellar spiders; for some reason those don't scare me and they seem to eat other spiders so generally I leave them alone. I tend to either suck them up with the vacuum, trap them in a cup and drop them into the nearest sink or toilet, or whimper until my H squishes them, because I can't stand to feel their bodies pop and I'm too afraid they'll get on me if I just use a tissue.

My book club read Persepolis last year. I liked it and it was a good to get out of my usual novel reading habit.
That said I am still reading Quiet for book club. I am annoyed by it and just want it to be over. I want a story and not a textbook! Hopefully I will finish tonight or tomorrow and can move on to something - anything - else!
QOTW: I tend to kill spiders: it is my house, get out or die! I like the vacuum method, but can also squish with a shoe. If DH is around I ask him to do it. Occasionally I try to ignore the ones in the basement (where I work out), but some days I just can't handle it. Don't move and you may live, but moving towards me, nope!

This is a lie! My friend lives in your state and just found this in her house!

msmerymac, I have never encountered a cane spider (KNOCK ON WOOD!), but you're right that they are here. And I would probably die if my reaction to centipedes is any indication lol.

It's okay. I was jealous at first. As if we need another reason to want to move there. But not if those things are a possibility.
There were very few bugs in CA, though we'd see an occasional roach or spider, and once had some small ants in the pet food area.

It IS buggy here, which is not a plus. I do prefer geckos to snakes, though

But centipedes are pure evil. Nothing should have that many legs.
