I'm with Verizon and I just got an iphone 4s about 2 weeks ago. Radio Shack actually had the best deal on the phone. It was cheaper than Best Buy or Verizon by $80. They had the phone for $150 and then they give you at least $30 for trading in your old phone.
I went with the 2gb plan plus I think I have 450 minutes (or something like that) and my monthly bill is right around $70.

Sprint the 4 is $50 at best buy and the 4s is $150 through sprint no activation fee if done online. They are doing some deal with billing or money towarss phones if you port a line(s) over up to $400. Not sure about the details as we are already on the sprint network so I didn't pay attention. $79.99 (base plus premium data charge) for I think 450 mins and unlimited everything else, text, data, and mobile to mobile calls to any network.
I know we get a 21% discount through DH work for the first line. Adding more lines lowers the cost per line.
We pay ~$250 for 5 phones with data charge a month.
I have Cricket, and I can get an iphone 4s for $499, or an iphone 4 for $399. Rate plan is $55/month for unlimited everything. Barely any taxes (like maybe $4/month) So you'd be looking at just over $1220 for the year for the 4S and service.
I haven't done it yet because I don't want to fork over the $3-499 for a new phone.
