I nearly asked an older couple to adopt me

as a granddaughter. They were there with their two granddaughters, one named Charlotte too and around the same age as C. Anyway, they were so sweet with them and the grandfather reminded me of my dad's dad. Dry sense of humor, teasing the girls and even a nice southern accent!

I miss having a grandpa.

My Grandpa used to make me "chocolate soup" out of my ice cream and when I would sit on his lap and rest my head on his stomach, I could hear the slight raspy, wheeze of his laugh. He'd had one lung removed after a terrible bout of TB when he was medical school.

oh, jeez about 20 years ago. I can't believe it has been that long. I am nearly certain that I was 15 and a sophomore in high school. He never woke up after a quadruple bypass. we were pretty close; he was just a really sweet, funny man.

Chocolate ice cream soup is fantastic.
