Remember my vent about Skye not being included on most of the Paw Patrol shirts/toys? I have a new vent.
We got a Paw Patrol book from Scholastic that basically just gives a very short "bio" of each pup. On Skye's page, it mentions that she enjoys "Pawdicures." Okay, again, seriously? Can't she just enjoy flying her plane and being cool? I have never once seen Skye get a "pawdicure" on the show. Not that there's anything wrong with getting your nails done, but of the three interests they chose to list I am disappointed that they had to make one of her interests a stereotypically "girly" thing.
I might try again to contact Nickelodeon. It's just so ridiculous. The show is great for girls AND boys and then they went and completely jacked up the marketing/toy items.
Wtf. That's ridiculous and I haven't ever seen her get a mother effing "pawdicure" either. Way to take a bad ass female pilot character and make her lame. Ugh.
It's not HORRIBLE. If it were the only thing, it would be okay-ish. It just bugs me along with all the issues with Skye being omitted from "boy" clothes and toys.
"'Pups away!' cheers Skye, the Paw Patrol's fearless daredevil. This cockapoo pup is smaller than the other members of the team, but she never backs down from a challenge. She's ready to fly off on any adventure! SKye's pup house is a trailer than turns into a helicopter. Her pup pack is filled with things that help her take to the sky. She loves snowboarding, playing her Pup Pup Boogie dance game, and getting paw-dicures."
In their defense, it also says Rubble enjoys bubble baths (?) but I think I've seen that on the show. "He stays active with skateboarding and snowboarding, but when he gets dirty, he enjoys long, warm bubble baths."
"Chase is the athletic leader of the pack...can herd traffic, block off dangerous roads, and sniff out the solution to any mystery...."
I don't know. Maybe they wanted to have a subtle hygiene lesson? Zuma also enjoys " all things water-related--from surfing to diving, and even bathing!"
"....Thix mixed breed is one creative canine. He can find treasure in someone else's trash and use it to solve nearly any problem! As Rocky always says, "Don't lose it--reuse it!"
Such a bummer. Skye is my boys' favorite. And that totally asked why she wasn't on their shirts.
I guess I'm not getting what the big deal is? I get being bummed she wasn't on the shirt, but because her bio said she likes pedicures? Pedicures are fucking awesome. My husband gets them with me every so often. It also said she flies her helicopter, snowboards, and plays games.
Yeah, I think the book is okay. It's not like it's listed as baking, shopping, talking on the phone. She can still have girl interests and be a bad ass lol

Yeah. It's annoying she's left off the shirts, but the book doesn't bother me at all. Pedicures are awesome!

I'm actually here. The being left out of toys/clothes /backpacks? Shitty. But we don't want to be anti anything considered feminine. Natalie loves to play trucks, get dirty and climb stuff. She also loves her pink sparkly shoes. I see this book as the same. And honestly, they were probably trying to make sure the book appealed to girls and boys
