I can't believe the judges loved Ashley's collection so much. It was like Grandma's tea party. I wonder if they are pushing for her to win because of the plus sized collection aspect.
I agree with them on Candice's collection. Definitely on the mini-collection she showed. It did seem very costumey, particularly with the way she styled it.
I love Kelly so much that I can't be rational when it comes to her critiques. I think her collection is amazing and very her. The judges seemed so critical. Damn if she doesn't have the best attitude ever, though.
Edmond. Eh.
I'm excited to see what changes they make. The finale is always so fun.

Kelly saying something like, "New York Fashion Week and my mind just goes *fanny packs*"!! was hysterical! I think her collection is probably still fine despite the critique. She probably should have showed them one of her more intricate designs because the three she picked did look a little off-the-rack. Her collection is fun though. I like it.
Kinda nice to see Candice taken down a notch. She's a bit too confident. I do like a lot of the pieces of hers that I've seen, more than I expected. Rolled my eyes though when she was all, "Project Runway has really taught me it's ok to experiment with color..." Yes, she's now using black AND red. So brave.
Edmund - Why is there always someone who procrastinates and shows up not finished and then acts all surprised when they have to make another last minute design or two? You've tried out for this show for 15 seasons and you don't know they always give you a last minute challenge right before fashion week? Ugh.
Ashley - I like her theme, I like her floral headpieces, but so far the clothes really are very basic looking. Just being plus size is not enough. Pastel pencil skirts and lace crop tops aren't much of a show.

Oh, my. I can't give away anything, but the judges do have a favorite. I was surprised at their reaction to Edmond's elevated style collection, but I understand their surprise at its lack of sex-appeal and Edmond-feel.

Oh and don't fault me for saving Edmond - he deserved to show at Fashion Week. Thirteen times trying out and he's so talented. I hate to see all the talent wasted.
Sometimes I'm glad I'm not a judge since I am too vested in seeing all these stars rise.
My favorite part of Project Runway is seeing Tom Gunn hangout with the finalists' families. He's so nice and open and puts them all at ease. He just seems so genuine.

I'm excited to see Ashley take the critiques she got and edit her designs. The fit has to be impeccable for her models and the collection needs to speak to her aesthetic and not too mumsy. That has been her downfall during the competition, a lean toward mumsy.
Keep watching to see how she Makes it Work for Fashion Week!

I genuinely love meeting with all the finalist's families.
I even, gladly, walked awkwardly onto the beach in my loafers in San Fran for Candice. They are all such good people and I want them to succeed as much as their mothers and fathers!
Did he use the Tim Gunn save? I have to watch tonight with DH, but that's all I need to know.
I did. It was inevitable. The show even foreshadowed it b/c they didn't show me hugging him goodbye or telling him to clean up his workspace the week before.

I still lurve Kelly's collection, although I will say the short set looked cheap on the runway. TEAMKELLY
I hated Edmond's blk/white bow dress, it looked like a cheesy pregnancy dress, and that blk long dress looks like it would look perfect on Mortisha or Candice, lol
I'm on the fence w/Ashley. I'd wear the purple outfit, but the skirt would have to have some sort of lining underneath, I'm not about to walk around w/my giant underwear showing underneath.
I'm pretty cool with everyone's collections. I thought everyone had some great standout designs - Candance's leather coat, Edmond's bow dress, Ashley's purple dress, the more intricate pieces that Kelly did but didn't show to the judges...
It was great to see plus size models on the runway and I like this critique show - I'm always interested to see how the contestants revise (or don't revise) their collections based on the judges' feedback.
And I'm definitely eye rolling at Edmund for not having all his looks ready to go when he arrived in NYC.

This may be because I'm old but all that Kelly stuff looked like F21 to me on the runway. Just shiny and short and ill-fitting for no good reason. Cheap. Borderline hooker.
And Edmond said he was designing with the dream of sending a dress down the Met Ball runway so that's why his pieces made sense to me.
The only thing I didn't care for was the shorts that she made. I guess I'm cheap because I loved those pants and and dress, ahahahahahaahah
I like Edmond, but none of those dresses screamed the Met Ball to me, but then again I've never been or seen the people that have gone to the a Met Balls, so I could be completely off base.
I do think though, that if you've made it to the finale now is not the time to try something drastically new, stick to you.

The judges were probably more ok with both Candice and edmunds preview than they let on. I think they like to beat down the ones who seem to be in the lead to make it seem that it's still anyone's prize to win. Candices looks really weren't that costume-y. I'm sure if she just tones down her styling a bit they will suddenly love everything and the drama and quality of her show.
And Edmund probably presented his more conservative dresses because last time he was before them they cut him for being too sexy, too short, and not classy enough. I bet his final show goes well too and his secret looks he's hiding are great.
You guys are right about Kelly's maybe being cheap but I still have my fingers crossed the the rest of the collection fills in what was lacking in these three.
Ashley is really the only one I think is in real trouble. I don't think she had enough time to fix her fit issues or change was she has to compete on the same level.
I was so disappointed in Ashley's collection. There is such an opportunity for someone to create cool, wearable, plus size clothes. I was excited to see what she came up with. Crop tops or no, if you are giving me lace pastels with floral headpieces, it will always read mother of the bride/ bridesmaid to me. I don't see how she can turn the collection into any cool if she only has lace pastel fabrics to work with.
I am blinded by my love for Kelly. I am not her demographic, but I love her vision and her attitude.
I am unimpressed with Candice.
I think the judges really want Edmond to win. If he completely biffs it with the procrastinating, I predict a kelly win.
Ashley - I wish her look was more youthful but I loved the purple dress. I think it's harder to get the fit right on plus size models - curves are all just a little bit different, and it's more pronounced that on the standard models, you know? She is at a big disadvantage there. I do think she's not going to win though, whereas I think all the others have a shot.
Edmond - I thought that white flowy dress was gorgeous. The black dress was interesting, I didn't hate it but didn't love it. I am tired of listening to him talk about how he likes to make sexy, classy clothes.
Candace - I agree it was good to see her taken down a notch. Her personality is so fucking grating. I am excited to see her collection though. What I saw I liked more than I thought I would. I predict that she wins.
Kelly - I love her attitude. I think she has the most raw natural talent of anyone on that show. I love that this scrappy girl with no professional training or experience from has managed to just blow everyone away. My hometown pride was off the hook watching her in this episode. I think her clothes are so freakin fun. I do think the judges were right in their comments, that the collection wasn't quite enough for the runway, but I'm still really excited to see her show.
All and all, I haven't been this invested in this show for a long time. This has been a great season, and I think the finale will be a good show.
Ashley - I like the concept and there is some crazy detail in her garments close up, but on the runway, you can't see any of it nor is anyone going to know that she hand dyed everything. Agree with the judges that her fit is bad. Kudos to her for doing a plus size collection but it isn't going to show the same as the other collections so that's kind of a disadvantage.
Edmond - I had no real problems with what he showed. It wasn't super exciting, although I did like the white flowy dress.
Candice - What she showed was pretty costume-y. If she removed the hat and gloves from the one. And then focused on the coats in the other (vs keeping them open and showing the bustiers), i think that would work better. Her individual pieces are really good - just needs to be styled better.
Kelly - I loved what she had on the rack. But on the runway, somehow it didn't work. I almost wonder if she put pieces together for the critique that she hadn't intended to go together for the real show. I also thought the whole section with her was hilarious. I loved the deli.
Tim Gunn - was, as always, so supportive. I love watching him interact with the families. He's too cute.
We finally finished watching tonight. I can't say I loved anyone's looks, but I really hated Candice's. The red thing looked so trashy and I'm so tired of seeing her do everything in black leather.
I was surprised at how un-critical they were of Ashley, but I wonder if maybe they've already written her off and just want to make sure she puts on a decent show. I personally don't like Kelly's looks, but I can see how she's talented.
I love Kelly to distraction and I, boring lawyer who loves leggings on the weekend, adored her stuff in studio. I think if she mixes things up differently it will look better.
Ashley better use whatever they give her to buy some goddamned print fabric that is not pink or purple and spice up the collection. Although I know if I were shopping I'd probably be drawn to her clothes. I like texture in fabric.
Candace bores me. I was so with Heidi that it looks like a caricature of a fashion collection.
Edmond also bores me. His individual dresses are nice enough but there's no cohesive vibe because everything he does is derivative. That big white dress he showed with the black bow up top was absolutely in a 1992 era print ad for Exclamation perfume. I'm sure of it.
Kelly is so great. I am so obsessed with her, she says the best things. I have high hopes for her collection, but don't love what she chose to show.
Ashely - ugh. It all looks like the plus sized fancy collection at ModCloth to me. Like I swear I've seen that teal dress with the horizontal lace stripes there before. Her best piece was the dark purple one she did while there. So disappointing to me. I wish she had used print. It just looks so MOB.
Candace is hard for me because I hate that black and red look - to me it looks cheap so easily, and she sometimes falls over that line into cheap and tacky. I also hate how she's all proud of using color - c'mon. I'd love to see her really branch out into other colors/prints.
Edmond's stuff was meh for me. I'm interested to see his other stuff, hopefully he has something better.
