Hi ladies-
We are looking for a new mid-sized SUV and I like the Acura MDX. Anyone have one? What was your experience? Are they worth the $$$? They are certainly pricey, but seem like really good cars. We have a Jeep Cherokee now and honestly, I hate it. It has been a lemon. Our other car is a Honda Accord -- it is almost 10 years old and we love it. I know Honda makes Acura, so my thinking is the Acura will be a better car overall.
The MDX is pretty highly rated. It was a toss up between that and the Pilot for us. H liked the MDX better - but we ultimately went with the Pilot because it had a few more features for the same price, and it had more interior space. I would have been happy with the MDX - it's a nice, sporty feel, good acceleration. It's on my shortlist when we're done with the Pilot in (I hope) at least 8 years. But maybe they'll finally have flying cars by then! I've been waiting, ever since Back to the Future II and its lofty promises. Only three more years - where's my hover board, Mattel!
I have the Acura TL, and love it. Very few problems. Only negative is that it takes premium gas. Also my gas mileage is pretty bad (V6 engine and a lot of city driving). I'd imagine the MDX is worse.
Keep in mind the MDX will be getting a total redesign next year. Images of the new design are already all over the web.
So if you are okay with having an outdated design, my guess is you'll be able to get a terrific deal on the current design. It's a great SUV with terrific reviews.

Jinx. I don't think the gas mileage is that bad. I have a 2002 TL and I get 28 MPG. Usually more. I know there are cars that are better, but I don't think that is bad.
Wow, if I get 19 I'm happy. But again Im rarely on the freeway. If we do a road trip on all freeways then we get closer to 30.
I have the RDX (smaller version of MDX). It's great. Lots of space (the MDX has even more space) and still drives like a car. The power is way better than, say, a Honda CRV.
Same here. I've had great luck with my RDX. It's 5 years old and has had no major issues. It drives great and has a decent amount of space. The MDX would give you even more.
Also as Baje said, you may want to look at the new redesign of the 2013 RDX (as long as you don't require a 7 seater). It's much bigger than the previous-gen RDX and reviewers are really liking it. It would come in much cheaper than the MDX too.
I have had two MDX's and loved them. I had to end up getting a minivan when I had the triplets because my 6'5 DH could not ride with us with the car seats in. I miss my MDX!
I've had my MDX for 2ish mos. and so far, I love it.
My previous car was totaled so I wasn't planning on car shopping. I wanted a Volvo XC70 but wound up test driving an MDX (and about 5 other vehicles) when the XC70's test drive was a downer.
I love the MDX: I don't see using the third row often, but it's nice to know it's there. Cargo room is MUCH better than our X5 and the interior is roomy (DD is rear-facing and has tons of leg room.)
I was able to get a good deal on a low mileage pre-owned MDX, so mine doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the newest models, but the backup camera and power liftgate are nice, too.
I drove an MDX for 4 years when nannying in college. I loved it. It was easy to drive, felt safe and was the perfect amount of space for two young kids.

we just bought a 2011 RDX and I love it. I had a Honda Accord and it was a great reliable car. I'm still getting used to the Turbo and V6 of the RDX it's a great car and I'm sure the MDX is as well. I don't care about the newest design, etc... so I would go for the better deal vs. new body. but that's just me.
