It's a lottery. It used to be that if you didn't get in 3 times, you'd get in the next year but that's gone now
Or you can qualify, but that is like 3:10 for women my age
It is easier to qualify using a half time, IMO. 1:32 for you young folk, 1:34 for me! I hope they don't lower the standards for 2017. It isn't an automatic entry though. They fill with NYRR first, then FCFS. They save more for the general lottery now than in previous years.

Lol! Easy! I can't even run right now. And even when I did I didn't even come close to 2 hours! I have some work to do!

Yes, me three! I think you have around 10% chance in the lottery. Sometimes I think I should just sign up every year and see, but the logistics and cost scare me a bit. Plus I just said last week I really want to run MCM. So many races.
So its either lottery, charity, fundraising, or 9+1, but that really only works if youre local or travel a lot (you join nyrr, and in one year run 9 races and volunteer at one, this is how most people i know get in). I think you get automatically if youve run like 15 years in a row, a friend of mine does this, hes on year 18 or something. It used to be a breeze to get in lol

Ditto this. I got rejected from the lottery in 2011, then my friend who's wife worked for NYRR at the time got me in!! Each employee gets about 3-4 entries they can give out, or they did at the time I ran, so I lucked out! So, go befriend a NYRR employee and there you have it ;-). But for real, it's crazy how hard it is to get into NYC, but can't hurt to enter the lottery and try. Definitely one for the bucket list.
