Sure! I think the last time I participated in a challenge was that year back on the old board when someone made the snowflake winter challenge badges lol.
How would weight training work in? I mainly do that and get some running miles in weekly, although not many per week.
I am in but curious about this as well...
I also do not get anywhere near the mile's y'all get!
It doesn't matter! What matters is that you are out there! I'm nowhere close to what I used to be able to do, I'm seeing this as a great way to get back into training and do as much as I can!

I think we could do something like 10 min lifting = 1 mile, or something closer to that equivalent. I don't know if I'd be the best person to make the conversion for effort expended though- wambam or stackingtens, could you guys weigh in on this?
For straight up lifting, yes, I think 10min/mile is good. But for a Crossfit metcon, I would say more like 10min/3mile. But that's just sort of a gut reaction. It's not an exact science haha.

So a 10 minute metcon would be like running a 3:18 mile?
I get that it's not an exact science. Ditto for the big question mark that is people that use the elliptical or zumba or barre, where it all depends on exertion level/etc. Maybe at least for the cardio stuff that isn't SBR we could go by number of estimated calories burned/100 calories per mile to come up with estimated mileage?
I suggest that in addition to competing against eachother, we also compete against ourselves.
I'm thinking that we have a division for highest % of average volume maintained through the winter - so average your volume for some period before winter and then try to maintain as much or more .

I totally have this in the bag! Once again being lazy is paying off for me (this assumes that I stop being lazy for the challenge...)

I dunno. It'll be hard to top my 0 miles of swimming last month. LOL
I'm going to think about it. While motivation during winter is definitely a good thing I also don't want to feel compelled to go crazy. I'm sure that will not be happening (Lol), but I don't want to be disappointed if I need to cut back over winter.
I think it's super, and either way I will follow your progress!

Sure, that sounds like a good plan.
I think there's probably an element of individuality here that makes the conversion between the metcon WODs in CrossFit and running hard. Like at my current state (post partum and have not run more than 800 m since my one and only half marathon 18 months ago...) a one mile run would be so slow and tedious that my actually exertion/fatigue might not be high. But I can do a 10 minute workout and be laying down in a puddle of sweat and not able to move for awhile... running is just a skill and it's a skill that I can't replicate in CrossFit unless I... run.
That's prob not that helpful, but I think there's probably some way to equate it based on our perceived effort/output in comparison to what the running would feel like for us. ANd there's no "science" to that. I know nothing about calories burned however, but it seems like that might be a decent option that makes more sense.

If I wear a HR again than calories would work but aside from that, with CF workouts, I cannot think of a way to equate it to running and I'm also a runner. My brain is simple.

I'm sorry you haven't been in the pool lately. But this reminder that you are human makes me feel less bad about my zero meters in the pool for all of October . I clearly need accountability
