Do you have a big dollhouse yet? That's been a long lasting one. There's lots of rooms so you can ask for furniture for them as gifts. My dd loves barbies/accessories to dress them in, magnetic dolls, little mommy dolls, play doh sets, my little ponies/play sets, crafts.
The more I look for things each year, the more ideas I find. --More Magnatiles always good. --Do you have a Rody horse? BEST TOY EVER at my house. The little one is good until about age 4 and after that you might need Rody Max. --Dollhouse is a good idea. We have the Fisher-Price Loving Family one and my 2.5 year old (turns 3 in Dec) enjoys playing with it. She likes the room sets really more than the dollhouse itself, ESPECIALLY the ones that include little baby figures. My almost-3 year old plays with the babies all the time. --Stuff for the new baby doll. Clothes, changing station, bottle set, etc. --Magnadoodle --Mini trampoline --magazine subscription, like Ranger Rick or Highlights --Scooters, helmets; big wheels --wagon --Calico Critters (and tiny accessories. They are ridiculously small but I still love them) --indoor play tent (plus sleeping bags?) --my kids love Paw Patrol and there are lots of toys associated with that show --games, like an eeboo matching game, Zingo, Princess cupcake game, Paw Patrol game
I'm making surprise eggs for ds because he loves those videos on YouTube. I'm putting stickers, candy and mini blind bag Thomas the train toys. Also got him some stocking stuffers, play doh, cars and a wind up Santa train. He will also get new pjs and books. Might not do big gifts because I know family will spoil him.
Duplo is one that my almost 4 and almost 2 year old both like. Board games - we got the Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel and it's so cute. DS really liked it. DD loves playing with anything food-related, so I got her a play oven (not a whole kitchen) with play food.
DD will be 5 by Christmas. This year she wants craft stuff, calico critters, playmobil sets, and American Girl doll accessories. Oh, and dress up clothes.
Oh yea, Natalie got a baby set last year that's still a big hit, especially with a new baby in the house. It had a stroller, high chair, baby carrier, car seat type carrier, and one of those states that attaches to the table. With it she got a diaper bag with a cloth diaper, wipes box and assorted bottled and food. I've also seen doll sized pack n plays.
Oh we have all the baby doll stuff, I am just sick of them arguing over who gets to hold the baby doll. We have the kitchen and all the food.
I like the idea of a cash register and a tent.
Next question, where do y'all put all this stuff? I already have the entire living room turned into a playroom and I rotate toys monthly. So.Much.Stuff.

I agree with the Loving Family dollhouse and accessories. My DD is four and loves the Little Live Pets birds. I'd also suggest My Little Pony and Disney Princess Toddler Dolls.
If you have a kitchen set, I'd suggest accessories for your younger DD...like an ice cream set, sandwich making set, tea tray, etc. My kids still love playing restaurant and grocery store.
If you are looking for another "experience" gift, what about a family trip to an indoor waterpark and resort?

The tent is in their room. It's next to their bookshelf so they go in there and read a lot. They share a room and it's huge so they have a fairly big toy organizer in there. I'd say they pretty evenly split their time between their room and the living room. We also don't have a second floor so that helps.
