Look at their pinterest (and if this is someone here, I'm sorry! I just pulled it off and went. )
Did they pin this tip? "SO GOOD TO KNOW! How to Clean Your Gross Plastic Containers 1. Fill almost to the top with water and a squirt of dish soap 2. Add 1/4 cup of bleach 3. Microwave the container for 40 seconds, or until the solution is boiling 4. Allow to rest until the water is luke-warm 5. Wash out your container and it is as good as new!"

Boiling it seems the worse sin. Soap is alkaline, and I don't think it has ammonia, so I'm not sure it would be bad. I wouldn't personally experiment though

Yeah, that's my thought. Fumes. Fumes are bad.
Mixing acid with bleach is also bad, but that's not really happening here.

It wasn't me, but this is perfectly safe. My mom has always added a dash, like, literally, less than a tablespoon, of bleach to her sinkful of dishwater.
I'm sure it'll clean the tupperware, but I bet the inside of her microwave is sparlking, too.
Eta: just noticed the 1/4 cup. wasteful, sure, but still not dangerous.

We have a friend who is very smart but really stupid when it comes to basic knowledge stuff. He decided it was a great idea to boil bleach in his pans so they would be clean. Luckily my H was there and stopped him but I can never forget that he is dumb for that reason alone.

Boiling chlorine bleach like it says in the pin will create chlorine gas. Chlorine gas was used as a chemical weapon in WWI, so, probably not something you want filling your kitchen.

Maybe "cleaning plastic containers" is the new code word kids are using for "the newest dumb way we figured out how to get high"
