We got DS a train table when he turned 2, and he has barely played with it. He'll be 4 next month. Right now the trains are all packed up and the table is taking up a ton of space in the playroom. I'm tempted to sell it, but I'm not sure if maybe he'll be more interested in it when he's older?
WDYT - sell? Or does he potentially have more time to grow into it?
Have you switched up the track at all? Whenever my kids stall with a toy I would switch it up and make it new again. Move the bridges and stuff. Sometimes I would remove that train and add a different one on for a bit and go back and voila. All need.
Dame with all toys. I just move locations or change it in some way. They start all over haha

I just sold ours this year when ds was 6 and dd 4. And they still played with it and still wish we had it. But we had a track that we had set up the way it was supposed to be, and ds would have tantrums and mess up the set/throw it on the floor. Then neither of them would play with it until we set it back up, which was a huge pain. So a while ago I warned him that the next time he messed it up, we'd get rid of it, and he did, so I did.
Mine would definitely go through phases of not playing with it for a while, and then they'd play with it all the time for a while.
Mine never played with it!! It was a waste of space and money. They'll build train tracks on the floor for days but the train table? Nope. Not interested
Thanks all! He's just never been that interested in it, and I even switched it up by filling it with dry split peas and a bunch of construction trucks. I think I'll set it up and see how much time it gets, then if it doesn't get played with, I might sell it before Christmas.
DS is 4 and ours is now a Lego table. We have the Catalina activity table from pottery barn and switched to taller legs a few months ago so it gets daily use again.
gastro - I was just wishing ours had taller legs! DS is really tall for his age, so it's not a comfortable height to play at. Dang!
It's definitely helped the longevity of the table - the lower height just made it unusable as he had to kneel to play. Can you raise your table up somehow?

We got rid of it this year, so when the kids were newly 5 and 4. The five year old hadn't played with it in two years. The four year old would use the train tracks on the floor and play with other toys on the table. We upgraded to a kid kraft table/chairs.
