That is the message of a new 60-second radio ad by Mr. Carson’s campaign, which will began airing Friday in eight markets — including Atlanta, Detroit and Miami. The Carson campaign is putting $150,000 behind the ad, titled “Freedom,” which takes the form of a rap song and is aimed at African-American voters.
The ad splices the calm voice of Mr. Carson, a retired pediatric neurosurgeon, with that of the artist Aspiring Mogul over a thumping club beat, with lyrics like, “vote and support Ben Carson, for our next president, it’d be awesome.”
“If we want to get America back on track, we gotta vote Ben Carson as a matter of fact,” the rap concludes.
The release of the ad comes as Mr. Carson seeks to draw black voters to his candidacy and broaden the Republican Party’s appeal among minorities.
I am embarrassed for Ben Carson and his campaign. "Hey, I know what will appeal to black voters- stereotypes about things black people supposedly like!"
That could prove effective for name recognition alone. His name is mentioned many times in the audio and he speaks to uniform issues that appeal to everyone - freedom for the hard working Americans.
Then I google Ben Carson and see images of him and his wife - they look like anyone's mom and dad. When photographed together they look very down to earth.
Then I go to his website. "Heal. Inspire. Revive." Ok that sounds good.
I watch the video here: www.bencarson.com/meet-ben Looks like a lot of neighborhoods around Houston and around the country.
On the issues -Anti abortion -Balanced budget -Healthcare -Education -Faith at the forefront in our society -Keep Gitmo open -be wary of Russia -Protect 2nd Amendment -Stand with Israel -Improve tax code
I could see him being appealing to people who don't drill in and research a lot and go on name recognition and whether he seems to care about what they care about.
Could be an effective marketing/campaign strategy for him.
epublican presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson told CNN Thursday that he would've taken a "little different approach" to the the rap-themed advertisement.
Carson's campaign released a rap radio advertisement Thursday to attract African-American voters.
Carson was asked by CNN for his thoughts on the ad.
"Well, there are — there are people in the campaign who felt that that was a good way to do things. And, you know, they're entitled to their opinions about such things," Carson said.

"You know, I support, you know, them in doing that," Carson continued. "But, you know, I probably would have taken a little different approach."
