penguingrrllattelady5 I ordered a bubble bum for DS who is 4.5 and meets the height and weight requirements for our Christmas travel this year. He will be using it in a car to and from the airport at our destination and maybe a few trips around town. Should I get any sort of belt adjuster for his shoulder? I see it's a popular "sold with bubble bum" item on Amazon. Is it safe and/or necessary?
It should come with one. I would do a handful of short trips with an adult in back with him to be sure he understands booster rules prior to the trip and if possible on the trip, adult by him as well. Good luck!
Ideally, at least 5 and 40lbs + mature enough to listen and sit properly. Some boosters allow for younger and lighter kids to use them but there is data that shows kids under 5 and 40lbs are at a greater risk for submaring (slipping under the belt) in a crash. DD is 4 and probably mature enough but only 27lbs so it's gonna be awhile.
Minimum of 4 years and 40 lbs. but they must also be mature enough to stay in position.
I can't wait for DD to be old enough. I hate lugging around the car seat.
Life got so much easier when the kids moved to boosters. For day to day it doesn't make a huge difference, but we frequently have the kids go with grandparents or aunts/uncles for one reason or another and being able to do it without installing a seat is life changing! Three-ish more years and I'll be done with that forever lol!
