It sucks. Wash all sheets and anything else her eye may have touched- towels, lovey, favorite stuffed animal, etc.
I've never gotten pink eye from DD, but one of our sitters once did (DH and I were both out of town for work when DD came home from camp with pink eye; I would not have knowingly put a sitter at risk, but there was no way for me to get home until the following day. I'm still a little traumatized by it and haven't traveled for work since!)
And ditto PP, the drops are a 2-person job with a younger kid.

I've never gotten it even though DS1 has had it twice. Just wash well and don't touch your face.
Getting eye ointment in by myself can be pretty miserable. I basically have to use my whole body to restrain him. I usually either lay him on the floor with me sort of sitting on top of him, trapping him between my legs or have him in my lap with one leg over the top.
Ds has had it two or three times, we haven't gotten it from him. Wash everything and wash hands often.
I had to give him the drops solo a lot, I sat on his legs:/. It helps if they close their eyes, put the drop right in the inside corner. When they open it will go into the eye. Our optomitrist friend also said we could do it while he was sleeping.

This is good to know. DS was not very cooperative last time we had to give him drops.

It's never been that bad in our house. We only caught it from DS once. DD had it last weekend and noone else caught it. Just change all hand towels and sheets, pillowcases. Wash everything. Wash hands constantly.

Also, I would hold her arms down with one of my arms and do the drop with the other hand. In conjunction with a diaper change. And quick so she didn't know what was going on.
Thanks for the info ladies. Woke up this morning and both kids eyes look fine, just a tiny amount of crusties. However, DHs eye is bright pink so he's heading to the minute clinic when they open.
