Nope we have a 2 car and I park in 1 and the other side is storage etc but I am too paranoid to leave it open. I'm home alone with the kids all the time.
Newp. It's always closed unless we're pulling the vehicles in and out.
Our garage is basement level (we live in a hilly area) and typically how we come in and out of the house. Unless the weather is decent or we'll be leaving again soon, then I'll leave the van in the driveway and we'll go in and out the front door.
My mom is one to always have the garage door open until some random guy walked into her house. .
It's a chamberlain. I think DH bought it off Amazon. I love it. You can set the door closing timer to 10, 5, or 1 minutes. You can also hit a hold button and then it won't close until you manually close it. I used to be paranoid I hadn't closed it after leaving for work and would turn back home to check. Now I don't have to.
I NEED this. I get major anxiety thinking i left the door open some days after I leave for work.
We just got new garage doors/openers and it came with an app that allows you to see if it was left open. We can open and close them from our phones as well.
We only leave ours open if we are outside playing, otherwise they're always closed.

We try not to leave it open because we have a (too large) population of chipmunks around our house and sometimes they will run in the open door. I do not need chipmunks trapped in my garage, chewing apart the insulation in our car hood (that really happened). The only time it's open for an extended period of time is if the kids are actively playing with the variety of outdoor toys that are stored in the garage (bikes, scooters, chalk, etc.).
It's only open when we are doing stuff outside. I sometimes keep it open if I'm only going to be home for a few minutes though. Otherwise they are always closed.
Never. We back up to a wooded lot and I don't want any surprises to wander in. I also think it's frowned upon in our HOA? No one in our neighborhood leaves them open.
Not unless it's being used. In addition to the reasons already listed it's the only outside door M has unsupervised access to when I go to the bathroom and I don't need him escaping the house and wandering around outside.

A couple people in our neighborhood leave them open right after they get home. I should, because it's smart to let the carbon monoxide dissipate a bit. I usually close it just because I'm afraid I'll forget later. It will stay open even doing yard work and stuff though.
I open it to put away bulk purchases, get my riding mower out, and take the trash/recycling in and out. DS stores his MGB in one bay- the rest is lawn stuff and my bike. My HOA has a rule about them being left open for no reason but they are pretty breezy about it.
My mom's FL HOA has a rule about doors being open and are very draconian around enforcing it. Some folks have screens they drop instead which are evidently OK.
It's open when we are outside working or playing, or when we're pulling in or out of the garage. Other than that, it's closed.
Our HOA in a previous neighborhood required that all apgarage doors remain closed basically 24/7. That's what we typically do, anyway, but I hated that we had to do it.
It's always closed unless we need it open for some reason. My parents have gotten too many squirrels and rabbits so I got in that habit a long time ago. Ours is detached if that makes a difference.
No. We have two side doors out the front and back from our garage so we use those. Also, way out here in Stickville it's so windy and all the dust blows in. Along with random farm cats. We keep our trash/recycling in the garage and I don't want furry creatures digging through it.
We also park in ours, so there's not really a ton of extra stuff we take in and out either.
Almost never. It's detach and we both park in there. We don't keep much other than the cars and bikes in there. Having a functional garage has always been important to us since we live in the arctic tundra. I imagine my neighbors feel the same way as I rarely see anyone's car out or door up.
