Tonight: French onion soup - it's almost done and smells AMAZING Mon: acorn squash with sausage and kale Tues: salmon and frozen veg Wed: chicken enchiladas Thurs: elk chili Fri: lemon chicken and leek w/ linguine
Tonight: veggie soup and breadsticks Tomorrow night: lasagna I'm gone Tuesday and Wednesday so H and the kids will have the leftovers. Wednesday: pick up a pizza on my way home Thursday: We have corndogs in the freezer to use up, so that and a random frozen bag of veggies I found in cleaning the freezer. Friday: Hopefully I get to the store so we get something healthy again.
I love seeing what other people eat but it makes me feel bad about our grocery budget. We have been buying meat at Costco, doing most of the shopping at TJs, only getting few things at WF and our bill is so much higher than most people here. Maybe because we include lunches & all household products?

namasteak, our grocery bill is pretty high too, especially with how much scratch cooking I do. I think a lot of it is we eat fairly expensive proteins (steak, fish) a few times a week and it adds up.

We do eat a lot of meat (about 1.5lbs/day) so that is probably it.

I cooked a primarily vegetarian menu last week, and it cut my bill in half. So yes, meat adds quite a bit. I've started only adding about half or a quarter of the meat/poultry called for in recipes, which has also helped. I add in more vegetables or grain.
