What movies have you seen lately or plan to see? Last night we watched Mad Max: Fury Road. H and I laughed so much at the drummer/guitarist in the raiding party. Did those guys ever take a break? The movie was interesting and I enjoyed how badass Charlize Theron was, but for the most part I didn't think it was that awesome.
I also have Inside Out and The Duff from the library right now. I'm very excited for Inside Out! I want to see Mockingjay Part 2 and the James Bond movie, but I don't know if we'll go to the theater for those.
I've never watched any of the Star Wars movies, so we watched the first two this week. I'm not a big fan, but I'll watch the rest. I also want to see The Mockingjay Part 2!
Inside Out is probably the best Disney/Pixar movie I have ever seen. and that's saying a lot. it may even be one of the best movies I've seen, period. I loved that movie so hard. and it is probably the most recent new movie (as in, not a rewatch) that I've seen.

I love Bing bong! I also cry like a baby every time I watch this movie. have you seen Home? I really like that one too. I have cried a lot the past few Pixar movies
We will probably watch the new James Bond movie this weekend. I want to see Hunger Games too when it comes out. H will want to see the new Star Wars movie when it comes out. I'm not a big fan but will watch it.
I have not seen any of the Hunger Games movies, so I would like to try to track those down and see what the big deal is.
They're interesting but may not live up to the hype if you weren't into the books first. I think a lot of devoted readers enjoy seeing it come alive on screen, but without that background it isn't really A+ cinematography. Definitely check it out, but temper your expectations I'd say.

I agree. The books were amazing, the movies without reading the books might be confusing or disappointing. I love seeing the characters and costumes brought to life on the big screen.
I thought the first Hunger Games was the most interesting, but I enjoyed them all so far. It's definitely an engaging and exciting plot, unless you're burned out from watching YA dystopian-type movies (Ender's Game, Maze Runner, Divergent, etc). I like most of the actors in the movies.

I need to watch the new divergent movie. I loved those books more than hunger games. How was maze runner (the book) in comparison? We watched the first movie without knowing it was a series based on books but I still really enjoyed it.
amaranth I actually didn't read any of those books, even though I usually really like YA novels. The new Divergent movie was sort of slow compared to the first, but I think that's because it serves as a bridge leading into what I assume will be a big epic finale showdown in the last one. Divergent seems "deeper" to me than the Hunger Games, but that's just my assessment based on the movies. In the Hunger Games movies, I don't really buy that Katniss has real feelings for Peeta. And looking at Gale and Peeta - it's like hello, that's baby Thor, you choose baby Thor lol.
I was a bit let down by the ending in Maze Runner and don't have much interest in watching the sequel. It just doesn't feel particularly original to me. I thought it would go in a different direction, but then I was like oh, this again.
I really loved the book The Giver when it comes to YA dystopian novels, but I thought the movie version didn't adequately convey the magic of the book. It was okay but not great, especially since they made Jonas into this 16-year-old kid (played by a 25-year-old actor).
I'm SUPER excited for Mockingjay Part 2. I think The Hunger Games is one of the most successful book to movie translations that I've seen. I'm hesitantly excited about Star Wars. I think it's great that they're including so many of the original characters, and I just hope that doesn't end up being terrible like Episode 1.
I still need to see Inside Out. We will probably rent that one sometime soon. I also really want to see Trainwreck.
Last weekend we watched the three Bourne movies. We're in the process of rewatching all of the movies we own in alphabetical order- we finished the numbers, and all the As. We have two B movies left- Braveheart and Bridesmaids.
