I found it on the Goodreads best of 2015 and was intrigued. It's a dark and strange follow up of sorts to Alice in Wonderland. I'm really loving it but I just realized it's the first in a series and the second won't be out until August 2016.
QOTW: I could probably give up my Vivofit. I walk so much normally now that I don't really need the motivation but it's still nice to see big numbers!
Reading: Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. It's really well written.
Listening to: Orange is the New Black by Piper Kerman. I didn't realize the show was based on a true story. I got it from my library because I am still waiting for some books on my TBR list to become available, but so far I like it.
QOTW: uhm...does a blu ray/DVD player still count as technology? I couldn't give up my smart phone and laptop at this point and I don't actually have a lot of gadgets.
Just finished "The Girl on the Train." I thought it was extremely mediocre. This may be one of those rare times when the movie is better than the book.
QOTW: not sure...I'm very technologically dependent.

I finished Carry On by Rainbow Rowell this week. Initially, I was distracted by the HP-ness of it, but by the middle they were their own characters, and I liked it.
QOTW: I don't have an Apple watch or Fitbit-type product, so I'm fine without those. But I'm rather attached to my phone, laptop, tablet, Kindle, TV...

I'm reading Restoration by Rose Tremain. It's the last book for the 2015 Ultimate Reading Challenge. I can't wait to be finished with it. I thought I would enjoy it, but I was wrong. I'm going to persevere because I hate the idea of wasting the money on the book and there is always the potential for it to get better.
QOTW: I could happily give up my Kindle, but my first thought was my microwave. I almost never use it.
I'm reading People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. It's good, but it feels long. All of her books do, although this one varies between stories/historic periods, which keeps the pace up a bit more than her other books. (I find Year of Wonder and Caleb's Crossing to both be good, but a bit plodding.)
QOTW: My iPod, since I rarely use it anymore. I don't even listen to music on my phone much. Or maybe my TV.

I really really loved Year of Wonders. Caleb's Crossing and People of the Book were good, IMO, but not up to the same standard.
The Perfect Son. It was free kindle first, and then I saw it was nominated for Goodread's best of 2015 list. It's good so far, but the subject is hitting a little close to home.
