Tell me what to get for a 1 year old

A friend I don't spend much time with invited us to her daughter's birthday party. It's in about 3 hours. I feel like I should bring a gift. Tell me what to get. $25 limit. I can swing by Target on my way there.

My other idea was to just give her $25 in cash in a card for her college fund, since that's basically all I want for DS. I'm not opposed to an actual gift though.

2) Board Books. Some good books Target often has: "Press Here" (by Herve Tullet), Snuggle Puppy (Sandra Boyton), Little Blue Truck, Chick Chick Boom Boom, etc.

Nothing that needs batteries.

If you're cool with cash/gc then do that - it's way easier and you know that kid will get a bazillion toys.

But get a fun card - I think those were G's favorite things! There are two we have to keep up on display because he likes looking at them so much!
