DD1 has a Samsumg Galexy Tablet, which has worked great and she really loves.

However, every other device we own is Apple. In hindsight I should have just sprung for a mini iPad to make it easier to share purchases and apps. I prefer the iTunes Store to Google play. So, my real advice is stick with whatever your smart phones and other devices are.

DD2 and DS mainly use my old iPhone 4 or my iPad 4. We had an iPad 1, but it is no longer working due to an unfortunate bathtub event. It was a good option before that.

We got them Surfaces. They hardly ever use them and Google has fewer apps in their store. Just get the ipad minis.

My daughter has had a Kindle Fire for a year and we love it. With that said, one of her school programs that we have for supplemental work does not work on a Kindle (Android/Apple only) so if that's potentially an issue, I'd spring for an iPad.

We bought a used ipad 2 for around $75. It still works pretty well!

My boys both have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. I think they are great, but admittedly we are a Samsung family and not an Apple one.

The surface stinks.

The galaxy or the iPad are great tablets that can be used for a long time without needing to be upgraded.

C and K have Kindle Fires. B has a Leapster but she always wants to use the Kindle. We have had no complaints with the it, would recommend!
