Just for fun. What time do you eat? Also, if you're cooking the turkey, what time do you get up to cook?
My family always ate early (I thought) at 2-3pm. My mom, aunts and grandparents were up cooking at 4am. Even with all our dysfunction, I remember amazing family Thanksgivings.

My family Has always eaten at regular dinner time. Cocktails and appetizers around 5, dinner at 6 or 6:30. Dinner at 2 is not dinner, IMO. I have never understood the way early dinner. DH's family does it that way, which is why I started hosting. Over the last 5 years I have gradually moved it from 2 to a more reasonable dinner hour. Muah ah ah (evil laugh).

We eat at my MIL's, and it will be around 5:30/6 according to her, so we'll be lucky if we're eating before 7. I wish it was earlier. She does apps too, so everyone ends up filling up on those as we wait for dinner, and then because my kids go to bed early we'll leave right after dinner and not even really have dessert. IMO the perfect timing would be to have fun apps around 1, dinner around 4 and then dessert around 6.
Early evening sounds so reasonable. I ordered a holiday meal and I'm planning on dinner around 4-5pm. It's just us, so we're really flexible on timing. There is something to be said for the post turkey afternoon nap though.
We always do 4 at my MIL's. I have no idea when she starts the turkey…I've never made one! We'll get there about 1 to hang out, help w/ last minute stuff.
