I ordered this from Zulily with the intention of wearing it to my company holiday party in a few weeks. It arrived today and I'm questioning whether it's appropriate for a work function. It's pretty important to me that I don't wear something scandalous (I work in HR). Thoughts?
Keep in mind: I would wear a slip underneath to smooth out my stomach/hip area and, obviously, a bra that didn't show through the fabric.

K, um, I'm going to tell the truth, while the dress look FAB.U.LOUS! on you, I'm not liking the color, it's too skin-tone for me, Sorry Please don't hate me. :?
ewall - I should probably add that the lighting in the picture kind of washes out the color. It stands out a bit more from my complexion in person. The tightness is definitely my biggest concern, along with how short it is. I don't normally wear things like this, so I'm not sure if a slip would help make it look less tight.
To set the scene a bit: I work in a very large office with a lot of young people. Most people dress up in prom-style outfits for our holiday party. Some of them are appropriate, a lot of them are not. LOL.
Skyesthelimit1212 - I wouldn't post pictures here if I didn't want the truth! The color is washed out a bit in the picture, but I wonder if I could buy some fabric dye and make it navy or something. If it wasn't nude/ivory, would that make the style seem more appropriate?
I only paid like $10 for it, so I wouldn't be heartbroken if I tried to dye it and ended up ruining it. lol.

LOL, I hear ya! People tend to let it all hang out at the holiday party. I've worn some short, short dresses to our holiday party before.

Skyesthelimit1212 gave me a great idea. Would the style be more appropriate if it were a different color? Because I could attempt to dye it.
amaranth - Ooooooh. Burgundy is a great idea. I love wearing dark reds. H and I never go anywhere fancy enough for a dress like this, but maybe we could plan something for NYE. Or I could wear it to HIS holiday party so I can just be his hot wife instead of the scandalous HR lady! LOL.

amaranth - I feel like I can't win right now. Because of this stupid, never ending flare up I'm still 10 pounds down from what I usually weigh, so tight dresses look totally inappropriate and loose dresses look frumpy and ill-fitting. I can't seem to find any sort of happy medium and I'm still struggling to put the weight back on.
I wish that I could just skip the party, but I'm planning it so I have to at least make an appearance.
Skyesthelimit1212 - Keep posting! Every time you post I get another great idea!
The party is in three weeks, so alterations are probably not an option, but I could dye it a darker color and wear leggings to make it a bit more casual. If I had leggings on I wouldn't have to have it pulled down so far, which might help it look less tight in the torso.
I love the dress and think you look smokin', but it is rather form-fitting for a company party, imo. Dyeing it a darker color might help. I think you should definitely keep it for another occasion even if you don't wear it to the party!
I wonder if a cute belt with the dress and some leggings would look nice.
Ooh this could work. Leggings or opaque tights and booties, a thicker belt, and chunky colored necklace. That would tone down the sexiness but still be hot. But, HR appropriate hot.

I agree about the color.
I probably wouldn't wear it to a work thing even though you look awesome. I wouldn't be comfortable so then I would be self-conscious the whole time but that's me.
