I am SO pumped! Thanksgiving is my favorite.
We are on the way to a ginormous lunch with my extended family, then supper with H's immediate family.
I just talked to MIL and for 6 people we have pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie, pumpkin bars, 2 different pecan pies, chocolate cake, and she is debating adding a peach cobbler.
Happy Turkey Day! I woke up at 6:30 for no good reason and am now sitting here with my coffee loving the fact that DH and I decided to stay home today. We're making a yummy dinner, but I have no time schedule so am not in rush to start cooking. I guess at some point I can start the mashed potatoes, since I crock pot those.
DH brought home See's Candies and fresh tamales from a lady who comes by his new office last night, so we had a fabulous night.
I went to the Brooklyn location of my favorite fried pizza place last night and it was not nearly as good as it used to be. Also was pretty empty.
God, please don't take fried pizza away from me (wilted)
spunkarella -- I hear ya. My goal is to not engage, but Thanksgiving is going to be 6 of us -- me, my husband, my mother-in-law (who has never seen an email forward she didn't believe), father-in-law, and my husband's 2 uncles who spend 3/4 of their time watching Fox News and the other 1/4 of their time complaining about liberals.
We had our first freeze this week and all my flowers died so I have to pull them up but today is supposed to be the only day this weekend it's not going to rain. But I'm busy today!!! Parade on tv, then I have to made a side dish, then to my mom's and Hinger games
I woke up to Mr. P in the kitchen whipping up some breakfast and starting today's prep for our Thanksgiving meal for 2. I just had a Chorizo breakfast taco and the sweet potatoes are prepped and he cooked the sausage for the stuffing. I did Kentucky Derby Pie yesterday (chocolate/pecan) and so most everything is ready save the final oven time. Watching the parade and feeling grateful my H likes to cook. LAZY THANKSGIVING here I come.
DH flew home so I'm enjoying some laziness before a lunch out with a friend and lots of work I have to finish before going on vacation. The weather was amazing yesterday but it's going to be cold and wet the next few days.
Hmmmm I think I have some cinnamon rolls about to expire. Guess I have to cook them up!

We are having Thanksgiving lunch due to various schedule conflicts. My house smells so good right now! Also, dinner tonight will be Thanksgiving leftovers, which is pretty much the best thing ever.
I woke up at 5:30am and couldn't fall back asleep. So I got out of bed at 6:15 and make breakfast quiches and bacon! It's ut last holiday in our house before we move on Monday so I'm bringing out the big guns of china and crystal.
DD and my dad are wrestling and it so fun to watch. My dad is the best with kids!

For five people we have apple pie and vanilla ice cream, pumpkin cheesecake and pumpkin pie.mthats a little over half a lie per person. Sounds about right!

Agreed! We have 3 people and have a pumpkin pecan cheesecake, two boxes of dark chocolate almonds, a 2lb box of See's Candy, and cookies.

At my in-laws for Thanksgiving. Our dog and my brother-in-law's dog are actually getting along! Was worried last night when we got in and his dog flipped out meeting our dog. After getting used to each other, they are becoming fast friends! Our dog is a Westie/Corgi mix and his dog is a pit bull so it is hilarious watching them play together.
I walked 5k on a treadmill this morning while watching the parade, and now we are relaxing. The turkey is cooking in the roaster, the asparagus and Brussels sprouts are ready for roasting, and I am knitting for a bit before the next round of prep (potatoes for boiling, pumpkin tarts, and gravy.
Relatively laid back meal while we quarantine ourselves (DH has a mancold right now).
Trump is my family's unity horse. My conservative 'MURICA grandma hates him so much.
I would love a political unity horse, but I'm too afraid to test the waters because I might not like the answer. So for my don't ask, don't tell policy is working well.
I actually had a really good Thanksgiving! We showed up early and my mom actually asked us to help her season the food. The turkey actually wasn't overcooked. 4 of us killed 3 bottles of wine. We had lots of laughs. It was pretty fun. I was sad that I had to come home and study.

Boyfriend's family liked me! I liked them! Everyone got along. We are talking about when to have them visit us in AZ. I saw a lot of his home town, etc. It was a great trip. Squee!
I'm 35 and up to now - 95% sure that we're child free. What's funny is that a baby came to dinner tonight and I didn't love it or want to hold it more than appropriate. When holding it I didn't feel more than appropriately happy.

My MIL is an absolute pro at saying things brightly when the subtext is clearly "this is bullshit". I love her for it.
"So you're still helping SIL with the kids while BIL is OOT? I hope they set you up a guest space" "Oh, no need! The baby's room is all set up and there's no room for a guest bed. Sammy and I both sleep in the living room!"
It is more important to maintain the integrity of the Pinterest perfect nursery that THE BABY DOESN'T EVEN SLEEP IN than give MIL, who is on month 5 of living there M-Th, a private space. You can tell MIL is biting her tongue so hard but is sucking it up to keep the peace. I feel awful for her
milsaroo Ugh. That comment would have made me cry, too. I lost my temper at the end of the day at my dad. It was like 1030 pm and I was just done. I'll blame hormones but it wasn't my finest moment. But hey we have matching travel systems now
