My H and I are thinking about going either tomorrow afternoon or next weekend while we're at Bumbershoot. The reviews on Yelp are pretty mixed, so I'm not sure if it's worth it. A lot of people were disappointed that the death mask and actual mummy/sarcophagus were not included. A few years ago we went to an exhibit on ancient Egypt artifacts at the museum in Victoria, and did not like it. We are interested in ancient Egypt and plan on visiting the pyramids at some point.
If anybody has gone, would you recommend it? What about the audio tour and IMAX movie?
I don't want to be a debbie downer.....or whatever you want to call it.....but everything that is in that exhibit is just replicas.....at least, from the knowledge I was given by my egyptologist guide....I don't know if they tell America this or not...but he told us they would never risk sending true artifacts across the world...
If you plan to visit Cairo, I would save your $70 and wait. The actual Egyptian museum here is only $10!!!! And it's also only $10 to visit the pyramids. Things here in Cairo are so cheap.
Thank you for the insight! We didn't go today, but if we have time to kill at Bumbershoot we may check it out. Otherwise we will just wait to see the real thing in Egypt!
