I slept much of the day and feel only slightly guilty. Made baked pasta for dinner. Then opened the new knife block set that I got on Black Friday. It fit under the counter with only a little adjustment. Yay, merry Christmas to us! P.s.new knives are very sharp and evidently like a blood offering.
Fairy tales do not tell children the dragons exist. Children already know that dragons exist. Fairy tales tell children the dragons can be killed. - G. K. Chesterton

One of my elderly neighbors has been really sick for a year. The day before Thanksgiving I brought them a small cheesecake because I knew she wouldn't be cooking. The husband, who was very close to mine, commented about what a good cheesecake my h used to make. I laughed and said yes, he made a good one, but mine was always better, and that they'd enjoy the hazelnut mocha marble one I made them. OMG I forgot to add the sugar. It was awful. I am mortified and I'm bringing them cookies tomorrow to make it up to them. I thought it looked a funny color, not browned enough, and when I tasted it (I had made one for us, too) it was the worst I've ever made. It just dawned on me today that likely the only sugar was in the liqueurs, so of course it didn't brown.
We are headed over to a neighbors for dinner soon. This is after going to a football party at my other neighbors house and stuffing myself with gumbo and salad. I've probably had too many vodka sodas already too. So I'm going to show up full and drunk. Oh well, I will eat and drink more. Let the gluttony continue!!
I'm on call for work, have been since Monday night and will be until Monday morning. I ended up having to work from 2am to 10 am this morning, had to have so much caffeine to stay awake that I could barely nap when I got home, but since I don't know if they will need me again overnight I had to force myself to try and nap. I feel like I wasted a day and I hate this just waiting for the pager to go off feeling. And I can't really do anything. 36 more hours!
I'm in the kitchen drinking and dicking around on my phone while DH holds the babies and watches football. The dishes are all loaded and the sink is empty, but I turn on the water and clang something every few minutes so he still thinks I'm busy in here. I've been holding those babies all day. It's his turn.
We are watching Prisoner of Azkaban and I'm wondering what MIL thinks of it. She told us once that she believed Harry Potter was "of the devil," because she'd heard that on the radio. I'm hoping she goes to bed when h leaves to go have a beer with friends in an hour or so.
The weather today was amazing--mid-60's--so we went to the zoo and had a fantastic time. The animals were all active, the kids wore themselves out and are already asleep, and my parents had a good time doing something touristy here that they've never done before. Now I'm drinking wine, watching Parks and Recreation, and eating leftover apple pie. Perfect day.
We are finishing Spy tonight. I'm easily amused but it's been really funny!
My house is halfway decorated for Christmas (started today) and it makes me happy
I ordered the silhouette cameo last week and have been struggling all day to install the software. My comp won't take it. It's pissing me off. I want to be crafty dammit!
Somehow each day we stay home the boys play better together? Like Wed. they were at each others throats and couldn't go 30 seconds without intervention. Today they have played awesome together. And they have been sleeping in! Monday is going to ruin everything.

I have no interest in being a responsible parent-- DS didn't nap and is currently cuddling while watching Daniel Tiger. DD is eating dinner while playing on the iPad. I'm enjoying the quiet and the cuddles and don't want to put forth the effort to bathe my children even though they badly need it.
I'm eating mac and cheese and watching Home Alone. H and ds are watching our local Christmas parade on the tv in our room.
I ran to Michael's and Target while ds was napping. I'm $300 poorer, but got the things I needed for the craft project for the kids to do for my mom for Christmas.
I make a photo calendar for all the family every year. I'm trying to decide if I want to wait for our Christmas pictures (we don't take them until the 12th and then it will probably take a week for us to get the cd) so I can include then or if I should just make the calendar without them.

I love my SIL and BIL.
My BIL and I align politically so well and if I had to be in a room full of right wing nut jobs, he is the person I would choose to come along and go toe to toe on issues.
We had a fun day! We went to see Peter Pan (the play) in Dallas then we went to my new favorite coffee/brunch place. Then I came home and finished H's scotch advent calendar and now we're watching Christmas movies.
I cannot believe Thanksgiving break is already almost over! I feel like we've been so damn busy, I did not get my several days of sleeping in like I'd planned. I'm just soooo tired.

I'm drinking and enjoying the last few moments of silence around here. Once halftime for the LSU game is over H will probably go back to screaming at the tv. Lol
