I just bought this table off eBay - brand new for just over half the store price coz the box is damaged - woot! I'm pretty sure I want a bench on at least one side.
Here's the matching bench (which is actually the same grey wash as the table, just looks more wood-toned here):
Then on the other side I was thinking 3 chairs...here are a couple of options. Which do you prefer? And in white or black? Or stick with two benches, or something else entirely? FWIW, our dining area is next to our study/office and living/family area, and it's not a huge room, so I'm trying to sort of streamline it, visually at least. The couch will be navy, so pretty heavy up that end of the room.
I like both chair options. Is the first chair short enough that when pushed it it wouldn't stick up from the table much? If so, that might be your best option. I do love the look of the other chairs in white or the cherry color.
I like the wishbone chairs but wonder if they're too bulky for your space; do you think they'll fit? Do you have the measurements? The Thonet chairs will probably fit better, but, IMO, they're uncomfortable.
Here is a list of chairs from Ikea that I would recommend looking at: Janinge, Vilmar, Bernhard, Kaustby. I recommend looking for chairs along these lines if you want to go with something more clean and contemporary to follow the lines of the table and bench. Also, most of these examples are nearly 2 inches smaller than the wishbone chair. This is not me suggesting Ikea, just throwing out examples to look for whilst shopping.
Table is more modern/craftsmen -straight lines- I'd go with chairs that have straight lines as well.
The rest of the room is pretty eclectic - mid century side board, Chesterfield sofa, more traditional desk & more modern living room chairs & rug. So I'd like to balance the clean lines with something more curvy.
