Boyfriend doesn't know what to get me. He says if I want something I buy it. Which I guess is true to an extent, but I was single for a long time so if I waited for someone to give me something, I likely wasn't getting it.
Or in the case of this weekend a jewelry store where I got my grandma's gift sent out a birthday coupon for a free silver heart necklace, so I got it because FREE. After I showed Boyfriend the coupon, he said he was planning to get me a heart necklace but now he feels like he can't and should get something else because I got a free one. I even said he could still give me the free one and he wasn't having it.
After my suggestions so far, his response was "Rocko gets Christmas but you get a Christmas too. So far you've asked for stuff for the dog." ::insert blushy face emoticon::
I don't need anything. All the events I needed stuff for are on the calendar before my b-day or Xmas (ex. I needed a new dress for my work holiday party this weekend coming up so not getting it until after the fact doesn't work).
So give me some ideas in the under $100 per event range for my B-day and X-mas
Earrings or a bracelet Purse/overnight bag Sweater Nice scarf Eyeshadow palette or a set of makeup brushes Cookware Fancy umbrella Rain boots Books Bathrobe Fancy sheets or towels A semi-fancy dinner date (example, Zahav in Philly always feels like a "splurge" meal for us because it's great food and attentive service, but we only pay around $125 even with drinks so it's not a budget-breaker)
I would definitely go for something experience you can use. Look for events coming up in your area the next few months or other fun outdoor things you want to try.
I like the idea of asking for an experience. Maybe a cooking class you both can take together? Or something along those lines where it's a gift for you both.
He could always get you earrings to match your new necklace. Gift certificate to pamper yourself (mani/pedi, etc.)

Earrings would be cute - if I had pierced ears. Its a PITA to find clips.
Experiences are a good idea. Massages sound good or maybe an event later. Our holidays are overbooked and then its tax season.
I don't need anything but my want list is huge and too expensive: new countertops, replace/ repair the master shower or full bathroom remodel, a maid service to deep clean the house, air duct cleaning, tile and grout cleaning and resealing, landscaping upgrades in the backyard, replacing the living room blinds that Rocko ate... Ugh none of that is fun and all too practical.
