Craft supply shopping is one of my favorites. Dollar Tree is where it's at! I take $20 and stock up every few months. But skip their crayons and glue. They're awful. Get Crayola/Elmers.
I need art supplies too but I'm going to dollar tree. If he shows talent I'll get better supplies, lol
Lol. That's how I felt about ballet lessons: enroll in the super-cheap school district lessons. They get some group lessons and they get to be in a show. If they demonstrate a particular aptitude (spoiler: they did not), then look into more spendy options.
Amazon and camelcamelcamel price alerts are your friend. Also, this time of year JungleDeals and QueenBee Coupons have daily lists of the best toy/art supply deals on Amazon.
My mom has this really annoying crafty friend, let's call her Bertha. Bertha has been annoying to me since I was like six. Anyway, Bertha now has a grandchild who calls all of the crafty things "craps" and it REALLY pisses off Bertha.
A couple years ago when I was visiting over thanksgiving Bertha came over with the granddaughter (aside: granddaughter is the same age as L and Bertha is always in a show down with my mom/me about who is more advanced. Newsflash: I DONT CARE). ANYWAY, Bertha's granddaughter keeps talking about all the craps Bertha does blah blah and Bertha was getting red faced correcting her over and over. This happened and I practically had an apoplexy trying to suppress my laughter while I ran out of the room.

You are a teacher, right? Or assistant? You can use a teacher discount at michaels and stuff is way cheaper than teacher supply stores. We also want all the crap supplies in the world, so we have to bargain shop.
