My DH put in these wood floors in the DR this weekend. Love how it turned out. I still need to make 2 more anchor window panels and add the last sheer.
Now I just need to find a rug that will work with the space. 6x9 is the best size but 5x8 would work ok too. The wall on the left is navy blue under the chair rail (hard to see in pic)
pic (taken at night)
Was thinking one of these? Want to stay under $200 if possible. Post and run, will check back later.
Okay this may be my boring shining through but I would do a simple gray or ivory rug. I feel like there is already enough prints with the curtains and chairs and several different shades of blue so I would want to add another color to the palate. I definitely wouldn't do an anchor because then the theme gets a little too kitschy imo.

6x9 seems a bit small for a dining room table to sit on, you really need at least 2' in each direction so the chairs can pull out and stay on the rug. How big is the table? Of all the ones you linked, I'd vote for the last one, but in the 8x10, or the second one from JCP, also in the 8x10. The nautical ones with the anchors are fun, but the design would be hidden under the table, and the coastal collage one is NMS at all.
ETA: a seagrass with a navy binding would look great or a jute rug, either one would be "coastal" in feel and affordable.

I'm growing older but not up. My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck, let the winds of time blow over my head. I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead.

Yea I think you are right. I love the patterns one, but it might be too much. It is kind of hard to find simple solid rugs though!

I need to remeasure for sure. I used to have a 5x8 at my old house and they stayed on the rug, but when you got out of the chairs, they did go off. Thanks for the graphic!

Thanks for the links! I had not checked overstock yet! I think I am going to go with a gray/white for the rug to help lighten up the space and so I dont have to worry about the blues matching. There is gray in both the chairs and the window panels.
I like both for different reasons, and think either one would look good. The shag will be a little harder to keep clean. I grew up with a wool shag rug under the DR table, and it was a pain to vacuum.

I do too! they each appeal to me. The shag is more fun, but the gray waves is probably better since its more subtle and the "waves" go with my theme better. The reviews did say the shag was thin, so maybe that helps? But regardless, this is a formal dining room that we only use for holidays :-)

Your blues only have to match if they are exactly next to each other. Blue is one of the most forgiving colors to mix and match.

Very true, but I also worry having a blue rug will be too dark like it is now. I think light gray would help lighten it up!
I think I like this! Don't forget you can usually use ebates and promo codes for like 10-15% off on overstock. I bought most of my rugs form there and I have been very happy.
