When I broke my ankle I also sprained the deltoid ligament. Since day one of my injury I've had pain on the inside of my ankle. When I had surgery I thought for sure they had cut into that part of my foot it hurt so bad. It's been 6 months! How long does it take to heal this type of injury? My PT "massaged" that area today and Ithought I was going to die it was so painful. I'm so over this!
I would think by now that would have healed especially since you were immobilized for so long. Problem is sprains do respond to controlled stress so while it scared down it may have in a haphazard pattern and now you are stressing it so its responding to that. If it was badly sprained those injures can often take longer to get fully better than a fracture. It takes soft tissue longer than bone. Keep digging at it or having the PT do it and give it a little more time. If it doesn't feel much better over the next few weeks I would bring it up with your surgeon
