I have hated them with the fire of a thousand suns for years, but we didn't have a viable competitor, and when AT&T finally came to market their prices were only equivalent (not lower) and only for 6 months.
Finally, AT&T is offering rates that are $20/mo lower, for better service, and for a full year. I called Comcast to get details on canceling and was wavering on whether I'd give in if they tried to lower my rate - but the universe had a signal for me as I was on hold for 20 minutes after being promised a 1-3 minute wait time. I held strong and am getting AT&T next week. Woot!

I did talk to Comcast already, and by dialing directly into the service cancellation option. They told me to just take the boxes in to our local office and did not offer any lower rates. Boo hiss.

Time Warner had pretty much the same response for me, but I was on fire when I talked to them last week: I was pretty surprised that they didn't even make an attempt-any attempt-to keep the business.
Not that I would've gone for it: they blew off the install appt. for which we'd waited 10 days. And then unhelpfully offered to reappoint...in another 10 days. I was primed for a heated convo anyway b/c they'd been overbilling us for several months and were refusing to fix it & refund the money. We switched and are now paying $80 less (!) a month and I've got a check for $180 and change coming from TW, in part, because I was finally able to get them to admit they'd been overbilling us: whee! Hate them.
