We went once in late Dec (we left the day after Christmas) and weather was cool, but a lot more pleasant than back home in IL! Highs were in the 50s and low 60s. Lows were in the 30s. I did bring my winter wool coat to wear walking around at night, gloves, etc.
What do you like to do? Have you ever been before? For a first-timer, just walking into all the different casinos/hotels is fun. If you drink, you can carry alcohol in plastic containers on the strip, so we have gotten a cheap drink at the Casino Royale before, walked down to another place drinking it, got another drink, kept walking lol.
If you like shows, we saw Cirque LOVE and it was awesome. When we go in April, we are seeing Absinthe, largely based on recommendations for it from here.
There is tons of shopping. If you like outdoors stuff, you can rent a car and do a 20-minute drive out to Red Rock for some hiking. I think they also have a shuttle that runs out there, but I'm not sure.
ETA: You can also go to downtown Vegas/Fremont St. We haven't been before but are going on this next trip. We're getting tickets for the Neon Museum, where they have a bunch of the old neon Vegas signs. It's supposed to be neat. They also have a light show, street performers, the food and drinks are typically cheaper down there, etc.
The wax museum is at the Venetian. That was pretty entertaining. We got some funny pictures out of it. I would do a Cirque show for sure, we saw LOVE which was great. I think Absinthe or Zumanity would be my pick for next time. We rented a car for a day and we went to the Hoover Dam. It was cool but the best part of that excursion was the lunch stop at In and Out. So, so yummy.

We just went last month. Go see Absinthe, you will not regret it. Mon Ami Gabi was great for breakfast. We pretty much walked the strip, drank and hit up casinos. Freemont Sfreet was fun too. Pretty eclectic folks there if you like people watching.
