Oh you guys! In addition to the MBTI offer MIL gave me some spice mixes in ziplock baggies (she made ) and attached a recipe (printed from her computer). Because "DH told me you had been cooking simple meals". FTR, DH is totally fine with the simple meals we have been cooking.

Nods has been asking for a snack every night before bed. Tonight I offered carrot sticks to which she actually agreed and wanted mayo (normal) and ketchup (gross) to dip them in. She happily ate it.
Huh. I think the General Lee is driving around my neighborhood. I've heard the horn twice now.
Update: I'm now 99% sure it is actually the General Lee. The last time I saw it at a car show, the horn sounded like it was dying, so the tune was slightly off. It's now driven by 4 times, and the tune is off the same way as before. I haven't actually seen the car, though.
I am so confused by why it keeps driving by and honking. Of course, if I owned the General Lee, I'd probably honk the horn nonstop, too.
I had Chipotle, brownies, veggie chips, and wine for dinner. DD is in a weird phase, not sure if it's teeth or just the age but it wears me out. She has an ear infection too but is halfway done with mess so should be feeling better. Her daycare lady asked me to keep her home today because she's been such a beast all week. I sent her to backup care in the morning and took the afternoon off. She was fairly decent all day, just wants a lot of attention. SO has been gone for work the last few days and is coming home late tonight.
I have not been good about not buying stuff either. Today I got an Instyler at kohls since I had 30% off. I tried it out and I'm not sure if I like it or not. My hair looks pretty good but I'm not sure it's worth the time and effort.
We just rewatched mockingjay part 1 since we're going to part 2 tomorrow. DH is like "the ending sucked I hope the next movie is better." I haven't heard great reviews, but I'm biting my tongue since I read the books.
I put E in her new Elsa PJs and she goes "what about Anna?" I knew I should have just ordered both pairs and not asked her on BF! Oh well she didn't seem bothered when I reminded her she picked Elsa when I asked. She's also getting Minnie for Christmas, so she'll be good.
DS took a three hour swing nap today. I had no idea what to do with myself. I needed to clean, but sat on the couch instead.
We went to Costco tonight to pick up my new iPhone. I had my first Costco hot dog. I don't know how I've been a member for two years without having one before.
We planned to go to the zoo holiday lights show thing tonight. Of course we were running a bit late, but when we started up the GPS it said it was going to take an hour to get there due to an accident. And then we sat in traffic going nowhere and watched the estimate grow. So then we decided to ditch that plan and go out to dinner instead. But it was late. So the kids basically screamed their way through dinner at Outback. I'm sure all the other patrons loved us. And then we went to Target. Dumb idea, but it made sense for non-kid reasons.... kids SCREAMED the entire way through Target. It was horrible. But once we were there we just needed to get it done.
Then when we got home we couldn't find a damn parking spot so we double parked as usual and unloaded kids and some groceries. But then an enormous truck came down the street and couldn't get through, so I had to take both kids upstairs while DW drove around the block, double parked again, unloaded the car, and then drove around to find a parking spot. UGH. I WANT TO MOVE SO FUCKING BAD.

My sister came over so we could go out to dinner with some friends. It was a very trendy hipster place so the food was small portions and a little weird. But overall a very nice dinner and I'm glad we went!! DS is still rolling around in his crib taking so I'm going to hope this means an 8 am or later wake-up!!
We have a tradition of getting cocoa from Dean and Deluca after visiting Santa. I was going to skip it but E remembered and requested it. Of course we hadn't eaten yet so we ordered 2 sandwiches, 3 cookies, 1 ginger ale, 2 coffees and a cocoa. $70.
I then went across the street to TJs and spent $30 on butter. Its cheaper there than at Price Chopper and Costco.
I am tired of consensus building. A good friend and I have decided that every week, everyone should get two cards that say "just fucking do what I tell you to do", which you can give to any coworker at any point. Things would be so much better.
I'd trade two work cards in for one home card. That would be amazing.
I'm laughing about ridiculous Santa stuff and daydreaming about our annual So. Cal. trip in February. I think I have enough miles and credit card points to fly us down for "free"! Then we stay at the lovely homes of my cousin (L.A.area) and aunt/uncle (San Diego), so we just need to rent a car and pay for incidentals. My aunt is a super-philanthropist-member of the SD Zoo, so we always get passes and coupons for there and the Wild Animal Park.

It's 10pm, TWO hours past bedtime and Chaser won't sleep. He is awake and happy, but when he goes to bed I'm going to bed, too. I hate when I have no kid free time. It's it too much to ask to just be by myself or with my husband for a couple hours at night?
H kept C outside until 30 minutes past his bedtime, which means we finished bedtime routine an hour late. He's usually pretty go-with-the-flow, but is currently sitting up in his bed screaming "Mommy!" over and over instead of going to sleep. Kid. Go to sleep!
Sounds like a tough problem for your H to have... I hope it worked out.
Good Lord, people really do feel like they are winning at parenting by judging people's choices to do or not do Santa. iDGAF who does what, but you aren't doing parenting better by choosing to do it or not to do it.
Did this discussion happen last year? I must've missed it.
It comes up every year. Its our Christmas tradition around here.
I need to pay better attention. I figured learning the truth about Santa/ Easter bunny, etc is sort of just a rite of passage.
Younger kids believed, older kids would say he isn't real, parents admit when kids got a certain age, and now the torch is passed for you to keep the dream alive. And if you never believed you just didn't- it wasn't a big deal.
It wasn't that deep.
I think this is my main issue. I don't recall it being a horrible thing for a kid to challenge another kid's belief in Santa. Now I see all these posts from moms fired up that Timmy told their precious Sally that Santa isn't real. The expectation seems to have gone from "let's play this 'Santa' game" until the kids figure it out, to "You better believe Ssnta is real or else," which is bizarre.
I got mom judged for not letting R have cookies and treats at a daycare Christmas party tonight I got him a plate of fruit and pulled out some brownies I made at home and another mom muttered something like "good lord, sugar won't kill him". Thankfully r's teacher overheard and corrected her that he's allergic to dairy and gluten, but it still stung.
Just got back from our first date night in ages. It involved a table of 3 couples next to us being totally obnoxious assholes and a fingernail in H's dessert.
Assholes I can ignore, but a fingernail would ruin it for me. Hair would be far preferred over a fingernail. I'm sorry

DS's birthday party is tomorrow and I'm so excited. We are getting a private tour of our neighborhood fire station!! I got fireman hats for all the kids to wear. He is going to flip!
