it is so nice out today here in NY!! I am about to get ready and make the 2 hour drive to see my friend who just had a baby on Sunday.
Im going to put this in here because I just had to share my horror: I saw a young girl at the mall yesterday, with her parents, wearing a 50 shades of grey sweatshirt. She could not have been older than 12-13. The shirt said: property of Christian Grey, aiming to please since 2012. So inappropriate for a child! Ew. The design on the shirt was like this:
I'm trying to motivate myself to get ready to go meet my parents. DH and I are going tree hurting up in the mountains with them today. We will also roast hot dogs over the fire up there.
After that I will be napping and then working the night shift tonight. I'm guessing tonight will be busy.
My sister in TX is flying home today (yay) but she got pulled aside by TSA for having a giant knife in her purse. Wtf? I guess she carries it always and just forgot to take it out? Not sure how she forgot. Thankfully they were nice after a lot of questions and walked her over to the post office airport booth and let her ship it home. I didn't even know they did that. Sisters...lol.
mac08 is it too idealistic to hope she has no idea what the bag means? And here I thought 12 year olds buying their own VS pink thongs was bad. Lol.
I ended up buying fabric dye last night for the dress I bought. Somehow, the wine red dye I got ended up dying the dress a lilac purple color. I haven't tried it on yet, so I'm not sure if I'm going to end up wearing it or if I'll go with my backup.

I just need today to be over now.
Oh no! Lilac can be lovely but I know that isn't what you wanted. Do you have any left over dye to try a second round? Maybe the fabric treatment the original used interacted with the dye.

I don't have any dye left and I don't have time to go to the store or do another treatment, since I'm spending the day setting up for the party.
DH and I slept in till 10. I'm working on wrapping Christmas presents and deep cleaning today.
I just busted my lip :/ I was cleaning one of DH's cups and somehow it popped up as I was drying it and nailed me in the lip. I have a lovely gash I'm nursing
Eww on the 50 shades sweatshirt on a minor. It's one thing, still kinda gross, on an grown woman but on a child.
I literally just told DH I want us to get our pistol permits and he got a huge smile and is already looking at guns. I did tell him I'll only get one if its pink. I'm not a fan of guns but would like to be able to protect myself. The way the world has been lately I have been seriously thinking about it.

Just food for thought, there are some studies about criminals taking you less seriously with a pink firearm. Not sure if it's outdated info/speculation/ or legit. Just something to look into before you buy. Aren't you in NY though? I thought it was super hard to obtain a firearm there.

I carry a Glock 42. It's a great size and weight for a smaller built person, and it's really easy to conceal.
wanderingenough- I have no idea what to get DH. I hope I figure something out soon because he's the only one left to buy for. All other family is done and he's bought my gift already.

Why do you need something really easy to conceal? People deserve to know you are packing in Hobby Lobby.

The thought of random civilians carrying guns around in public is truly terrifying to me. Regardless of how well trained someone is in the use of the actual gun, actually using it correctly in a high-stress situation requires a lot more training. As much as I know, like, and respect you all, there is absolutely no guarantee that having a gun to defend yourselves will actually work. In fact, statistically, you are far more likely to hurt yourself or a bystander instead of a criminal. There is no one I personally know that I would trust with a gun, regardless of the amount of civilian training. Not my husband, parents, or even myself. "Good guys" with guns are still people knowingly bringing dangerous weapons around others in public, and consequently endangering themselves and everyone else.
