I got a call this morning from Saks (of all places) asking to confirm a shipping address. Turns out that someone stole my credit card number and bought a shit ton of perfume.
While I'm glad that it was caught early, I'm a little nervous about how they would have got my card number. I've only used it for wedding vendors, cable and concert tickets.
Any suggestions for preventing this from happening again?

Mine was used in London a year or so ago to buy (or try to buy) train tickets. No clue how they got the number, I hadn't been overseas in a few years, but CapitalOne was fantastic. The transaction was refused either way, but they called me anyway to make sure it wasn't me over there. They cancelled the card and sent me a new one.
