I get symptoms pretty quick. I just take the next at regular time and if I know I forgot one, I'll take it when I remember. This is why I have my old lady pill holder...

I just actually counted out my pills; I forgot last night. I just took it. I feel horrible.
I just had my physical and we discussed me getting off them. I think I am going to go back and start that process. I don't want to feel this relent on medication.
I have been so bad about taking mine lately, because I've been traveling and super busy in general, and I feel the effects immediately. My gastrointestinal system gets so messed up, and I generally feel like garbage.

This is me... I feel so horrible. How long does it usually take for you to feel better after you took it?

It takes at least a day. I forgot to take mine Friday and yesterday and just took one, and I feel like I'm going to die.

I have to say that this is not a reason to stop the medicine. If your mood is better, that's great. But if you just don't want to be reliant on meds, that's a silly way to think. If you were hypertensive and missed a dose, your BP would go up. People sometimes feel out of it for missing their thyroid dose or iron pill. Depression is an illness no different than diabetes. And if anything, it's kind of nice to know when you miss a dose. I miss my anti rejection drugs all the time. I won't know until I start to reject.
But yeah, one missed dose can fuck you up pretty lousy. That's why you have to taper down to come off.

I don't really notice if I miss a dose, but it's totally normal if you do.
I am awful for forgetting to take stuff, so I also use an old lady pill box :-) Actually, I want to get a new one because I sort of need one of those ginormous ones that has two boxes for each day -- one for AM and one for PM. Right now I just use two different weekly pill boxes.
I do not get effects quickly, but those are the same effects I do get if I forget 2 days in a row. It's awful. Once I remember to take it, it takes me awhile to feel normal again.
If I forget it for 2 days I will have a VERY upset stomach. I now have a dry erase board and I write Meds on each day of the week, then cross it off when I take it. This helps me remember.

I completely agree with you. I had my physical last week and we discussed me coming off it. I have no history of depression and she thought it was situational. We were going to review after the holidays plus if I want to get pregnant again, I want to be off it and we are going to make a decision early next year.
Effexor can be pretty rough to get off of. My husband ended up staying on a low dose after a week of flu like symptoms.
I will forever be on this darn medicine I get sick when trying to wean (slowly, not cold turkey). I miss a dose and I am sick, I wish I never started it.
