I was just on the phone to reset a password for my Visa. (I hate when they say the password has to be 12 digits and needs a letter and number and capital - they should remind you of that when you are entering so you remember what you chose)
Anyway, to prove who I was they asked me all my personal info. I could not answer the following and almost had my card activity suspended 1 location of my home branch. (i never go into the bank and I have moved a million times) 2. Limit of my credit line (little did I know they raised my limit over the last few years) 3.limit of my cc. I know recently it was also raised. But I couldnt remember the exact top.
I ended up logging in to my internet banking to find 2 and 3 which was enough for them. But am I irresponsible for not knowing? I pay my Visa off in full every month and my credit line is at 0.00, I only keep it as emergency.
Home branch of your Visa? like for your debit card? no, I have no idea because we had to close my account and open another (due to fraud) and I don't remember which branch we went to do it. I have 3 cards that I carry and while I know the general limits, I couldn't tell you which was which on the spot. I also applied online for my other cards, so how would I know if it was assigned to a branch. ETA: do they have other questions you could add to use next time. Most of mine are like "what is your dog's name" or something like that.
I know the limits on some of my credit cards, but not all of them off the top of my head. I don't think I'd know which branch of my local bank is my "home" branch, either. I've lived in several different places in the region since I've had the account, and I'm not sure which of them I lived at when the "home" branch was determined.
Yes, but my limits is mini and easy to keep track of. I also have my debit card number memorized. And my company card number. Enter it in enough times and that shit never leaves my brain.

Yeah, I know which branch it was opened at & the limits on each card. Not sure how that’s different from a ‘credit line,’ but I’m guessing I don’t know that one.

I couldn't have answered those questions. I still use the credit union account my parents opened in my name when I was like a month old, so I have probably never known which branch is my "home branch". And I don't know what my limits are, other than way more than I have any intention of spending in one month.
Of course, I have trouble even with the security questions I set myself. Hmm... Which grandmothers name do I think I chose?
I think that's weird. Usually I get asked for my social, my special password (something made up for the bank), address, etc. I've never been asked any of those questions and wouldn't be able to answer them if I was.
