Assembling the KidKraft Kitchen

My FIL is coming over today to help H assemble L's new kitchen. Any tips or tricks to pass on? How long did it take if you remember?

We have this one. It took DH, who is very handy, 3.5 hours over 2 days to assemble it. He said it wasn't difficult, just time-consuming with lots and lots of tiny pieces.

I had the same one as supergreen. It took 2-3 hours for me to assemble it alone. I did need someone to help me with one step, but mostly did it on my own. I have a lot of experience with assembly, since my DH does not have good skills in that direction.

This is why I'm taking advantage of my FIL being here today to hopefully get it done. FIL is very handy. H...is not.

We're going to hide it in the storage room in the basement and just bring it up on Christmas eve.

My Inlaws got that for the kids for Xmas per advice on here lol.

They said it took about 3 hours to assemble.

We got the vintage one for the kids birthday and it took DH at least 3 hours or more to put together.

We have the vintage one but it took DH 3 hours spread out over a couple days to put it together. He's super handy.

I remember being really impressed with how great everything was labeled and how clear the directions were. It wasn't hard, just time consuming with all the little pieces.

My H wanted to get this one for L. I told him we could consume a hell of a lot more booze if we got a Step2 plastic one instead. Cheers!

H did it yesterday. It took 6 hours, but he was simultaneously watching football (I.e not working at full speed).

That would be amazing but I don't think that's an option. Where did you find one pre-assembled?

My kids got that last year...I think it took my husband and I about 2.5 hrs and assemble it where you want it because it is heavy!

Well used, preassembled.  Craigslist or Kiji or whatever your thing is called or a FB garage sale group.  There are tons of kitchens on my garage sale group this time of year.

I scouted out kijiji for weeks before ordering this one but no luck.

Took me ~2.5 hours, I was doing other things too. Not tough, just time consuming.

You don't need to be handy to put it together. It's easy... there's just 5 zillion parts which is why it takes so damn long!

Hmm, the plan was to assemble it in the basement so it can stay hidden and then bring it upstairs on Christmas eve. Will that be impossible?

Fuck, why did I think this was a good idea? We also have a table/chair set arriving. Our IKEA bookcases almost did us in a few years ago.

My husband and I did carry it down a flight of stairs after assembly and it was not fun at all. Good luck

My H & BIL assembled that kitchen Supergreen posted & a Power wheels Quad on Christmas Eve night in the basement. It took 3+ hours & 2 people to bring it upstairs. An electric screwdriver should make it faster.

I was going to get the Espresso one. It would look perfect next to the hutch-credenza thing in our living room. But after seeing DD go crazy nuts about the loud pink Hello Kitty kitchen my parents bought her for their house, I've decided a nice colorful plastic Step 2 or Little Tikes is the way to go. My husband hates helping me with Ikea furniture. This kitchen assembly would be all me and why bother.

It wasn't bad, just a million pieces. It took 3 ppl about 1.5 hours. The worst thing we have assembled is the Ikea Hemnes 6 drawer dresser..omg.

We had two spots where the pre drilled holes were not deep enough. That really caused a lot of delays since we thought we were doing something wrong and tried to force things. I would recommend having a drill to help

this sounds miserable. My husband is not going to be a happy camper. But my daughter was playing with a friends and loved it.

We have the vintage one and assembled in the basement and took it upstairs after. It took DH around 2.5-3 hours to put it together.
