(1) I've made up voices for several MMMers, and I read their posts in the style of their voice. I'm not the only one who does this, right? (2) msniq and I pick up words & phrases from V, and sometimes use them when we talk to each other. Because we're adults.
We do the same - we have boodiddies instead of blueberries. And we've started answering questions with "or not" instead of "no", just like B does. We probably shouldn't encourage this, but it's kind of funny.
My MIL had a little family party for DH yesterday and sent us home with extra bday cake. I tucked it behind some other things in the fridge so he wouldn't be reminded we had it last night when looking for some dessert Birthday cake and coffee in the morning is one of my favorite combinations, lol.
My 2016 premonition: a pregnant and ragging @this is going to go crazy and call out someone in the randoms thread. The offense, "my aunt sally passed away last night". We are all going to be secretly happy inside. See, we've all wanted to do it but don't have the balls. A pregnant and irritable person can do this.
Randoms threads serve a purpose even if they are generally dull. Not everything should be its own thread.
I want to know more about niq 's voices and bowies ' names for posters.

Those are the ones that come to mind and that I can describe easily.
Also the Canadian posters do not have Canadian accents in my head.
Except for the east coast and people that are really rural, Canadians don't have accents. Actually people from Seattle don't have much of an accent either.
I'm embarrassed and annoyed I need to buy a cd/DVD travel case for our trip home. I probably threw away or donated several before we moved. And they don't even sell the damn things at Target. I just need a small one and i want it to basically be free but instead i think I'm going to spend $7 to get a pink one to match DD's DVD player.

We totally don't. But once you cross the Cascades to eastern WA, who knows what linguistic anomalies you might encounter.

We bought a GIANT box of candy for halloween at BJs this year, because we ran out last year. We barely went through half of it. I brought the rest to work, but hid it in my drawer and have been doling it out little by little in my candy bowl. Except no one really comes in my office, so it's really just me eating it. I just realized how much is left, but I am ashamed to put it out in the kitchen because it's almost freaking Christmas. And it's getting stale. And-and it's mostly whoppers because neither my husband or I like them all that much, so we loaded up my work stash with them. So I have like 100 pieces of candy that I think I may just dump in there early in the morning when no one's looking (and then pretend like I have no idea where it came from if anyone says anything) before we go out on break next week.
I just assume that all Canadians sound like Robyn on HIMYM. No?
Lol, I thought she sounded like a normal person most of the time she'd randomly throw in a silly accent whenever they brought up her canadianness, but was it otherwise that noticeable?

I thought she had a definite accent. It was generally mild, but then very obvious when she said certain words (some of the aforementioned stuff like "process").
Of the two close Canadian friends I have, one barely has an accent at all, but the other definitely sounds Canadian to me.
Whenever people post about accents, I spend an hour or so saying all the contentious words aloud to try to hear the difference. Soh-rry. Saaaah-rry. A-boot. Hahl-iday. Ruff.
I just paid $30 in cab fees to pick up a LLR order in person and save myself the $6 shipping fee, lol lol lol. I did get to try Sarah's on in person at least!
Now one thing I have heard, is that Nova Scotians call everyone buddy. Apparently this is like, a thing we do that other people don't (except Newfie's, though they've got b'y). Like you're telling a story about "buddy at the store" , or the normal greeting is "hey bud!" Everyone I know says buddy constantly. I call everyone, including my kids and husband buddy.
I think that's a right good observation there, bud.
My H is from Michigan and does not say 'ruff' or 'crick'. I once had someone (who had never met my H) ask if I was from Michigan. I grew up in Montreal and Calgary, so... I don't even know what I sound like. Someone from Michigan, I guess? I never picked up a London accent, sadly.
I grew up in Michigan and people always think I have a Canadian accent. One of our really good friends (from MI as well) was shocked that I didn't have dual citizenship. Um, I was born in Detroit but I did watch a shitload of Anne of Green Gables growing up.
So when people say that some people say "ruff" for "roof", are they pronouncing "ruff" like "rough"? When I say roof it does not rhyme with "goof" but it also sounds different from when I say "rough". But of course every time I think about it I can't remember how I usually say it, let alone phonetically describe how I say it. I'm from Illinois and DH makes fun of me for not rhyming roof with goof.
H and I were supposed to go to a cabin up in the mountains for a night next week while my ILs are here. Well, H's commander approved his leave for the first day, but denied the second day. WTF? So now he can't go.
I lied and told H that the reservation was non-refundable so I can still go by myself. I'm going to starfish a king size bed in a rustic cabin and have like 30 whole hours all to myself!!!
I have watched too much TV this weekend, specifically both Jessica Jones and Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.
Are you all caught up on SHIELD? I thought the mid-season finale was awesome. DH and I both said several times "wow I didn't see that coming!!" Which is very unusual for us.
My DS2 (just turned 3) loves my ponytail. He likes to touch it and rub it against his face. He says that it is "beautiful and tickley." He tells it good night. His obsession is going on a year now.
So naturally when I took him to the mall to see Santa he asked the jolly big guy for a Blaze track and a brown ponytail.
So now I am buying my 3 year old a 21" clip in ponytail extension from Amazon.

I don't watch the show but the concept of "mid-season finale" drives me insane. You cannot be both the middle and end of something!

I'm late, but I was just in the Detroit suburbs over the weekend and am sad that there was no opportunity for me to hear "crick." I was too focused on the vowels in "back" and "trap." I've heard them a million times already but it's weird actually being somewhere where you hear that vowel shift all the time.
Also, speaking of Canada too, when I was in a bar in Vancouver some guy was talking to me and asked if I was from Newfoundland when he heard me talk. Look, I know enough about Canadian culture to know that I wasn't supposed to like that question lol. Then he got really confused when I said I am from New York City.
Oh! And during that same trip a cab driver complimented me on my "dark, exotic Hispanic features." I am as white as Elmer's Glue. WTF Canada?

No, I am only on episode 8 of season 1, on Netflix. I am liking it more than I thought.

Oh I TOTALLY AGREE. I have @this levels of rage at the concept of a "mid season finale." But that's what the episode was called.
