Dog 1, yes we did it 1x once they smelled realy bad. He was a Boston and had like 5 teeth pulled. Pre blood work and cleaning and extractions was 500 I believe. We should have done it sooner. It made such a difference. If he had loved longer we would have done it again. He passed away 1 year later.
Dog 2 will be getting it done in February. Her teeth don't smell as bad but there is some serious plaque and she loves tennis balls which are terrible for dog teeth.

$400 we have done it once, and have been meaning to have it done again. I haven't scheduled the appointment yet. Part of me feels like maybe its not necessary and the other part of me wants to take good care of my dog.
We've done it once in 4.5 years we've had our dog. He's a small dog and I think it's common for their teeth to get yucky easier than large dogs. IIRC, it's was a bit over a year ago and was about $300.
We brush his teeth at home nightly now and he hasn't had any buildup.
We just paid $300 to get one of our dogs teeth cleaned last month. He had to get 7 teeth pulled out. Luckily he still has some left. That was his second time getting them cleaned. He's 9yo.
We've paid $700 before, it depends on what needs to be pulled and the complexity.
I called practically every vet in town to get an idea of cost; it varied wildly.
I fee like this is a "New" thing, as I never heard of dogs getting their teeth cleaned until I was an adult. No one I knew ever did it, and I've had dogs my whole life.

Yes. We did it annually for our Cavalier because the breed has heart problems and dental issues can make those worse (somehow). He got his teeth cleaned every year until he got so old that the anesthesia was harder on him than any further heart issues.
Our Springer used to have his teeth cleaned when we were having our other dog's teeth cleaned. He's had to have several teeth pulled (he had issues when we got him because he used to chew rocks). We decided the last time his teeth were cleaned (maybe a year ago) that we weren't going to do it any more. He's just too old now.
Our vet charges around $400, but it's included in the annual plan we sign up for.
If your dog will let you, you can probably avoid having to have the vet do cleanings if you brush his teeth yourself. Of course, remembering to brush a dog's teeth every day sounds almost impossible to me since there are days I feel like brushing my children's teeth takes too much effort!
We did it once because my dog had to have a tooth pulled anyways (it was rotten). We paid $800 for her to be put under, have her teeth cleaned and they pulled the rotten tooth and 3 others because they were broken. My dog likes to play with rocks like they are toys so she must have broken them at some point.
I do see specials in February because it is "National Pet Dental Health month" so if you are going to get it done that is probably the best month.
We need to do this. Our dog has double canine teeth (aren't all dog teeth canine teeth?) and it stinks because plaque gets trapped between them.
We have a song my DD and I made up to the tune of "Farmer in the Dell" about our dog and one verse is "Lucy has shark teeth" and another is "Lucy has stinky breath".
For everyone that has had it done does your vet require pre op blood work? Ours does and it adds over $50 to the bill. Wondering if that is normal or not.

Yes b/c the plaque can cause an infection. Our dog has genetically bad teeth and has had to have tons pulled. When we fist got him and took him to the vet the vet thought he was older due to his teeth .
I've paid $250-350 and that has included teeth pulled and antibiotics. The first vet quoted me $500 but I shopped around.
February is Pet Dental Health month and many vets I talked to offered discounts during that month ( 10%ish).
For the two indoor doxies, yes. Well one has had it done for $300 including blood work and anesthesia. Leia will get hers done in the next year. I do brush their teeth everyday (at least try to).
Our outside farm pup isn't a year yet and seems to have great teeth but if the vet recommends it we do.
I did it once, but need to again. It is very pricey. I found a vet about 45 minutes away that is pretty cheap and they also do more of a twilight sleep rather then completely knocking them out.

Ours have done it twice - they're five years old. It's crazy expensive at our vet, and they ALWAYS recommend it and ALWAYS make it sound like their teeth are falling out. I like our vet because they are thorough, but sometimes it's hard to know if they actually NEED something done, or if it just would be nice.
Our vet always recommends it but tells us whether there are teeth that need to be pulled or not. I opt not to do it until teeth need to be pulled or there is an infection. I don't want to put a dog under for an elective operation - its just one time the benefits don't outweigh the risks, IMO. My older dog, who is 9, won't ever have his teeth cleaned unless there's an infection. The younger one, who is 6, could probably use it but will probably wait another year or two. Both have kinda stinky breath but their vet has assured me they don't have an infection or teeth that need to be pulled.
