For the last ~4 weeks naptime has been a disaster ~60% of the time. Even daycare is having trouble getting him to nap; they could not get him to "relax" or just stay still during nap time. Today he didn't nap at daycare so we moved bedtime a whole hour early. But he was still so wired and eventually went to sleep 30 mins past his usual. He wakes up early although I probably could try to wake him up earlier (but this cuts down on MY sleep. We cut off any sweets/treats (not that he really eats them regularly) past lunch. But I haven't noticed any difference.
Is he just going to stop napping soon? Everyone in his classroom even kids almost a whole year older than him still naps and the daycare teachers are at a loss. I have been trying to not let him sleep past 7am, but even on days when he wakes up earlier (6:30) he still sometimes doesn't nap. We previously had non-nap days were he would be sort of crashing around 6pm but the last 3 nights have been opposite where he seems to be really wired. wth is going on! help!
eta: DS is 2.5 yrs old; prior to this he is a good napper (usually about 2 hrs). It was just one day he wouldn't nap, then the same thing happened a few days in a row, then he would nap again for the next ~2 days and then another stretch of non-napping phase.

Hm. I think I might be really strict about quiet time, especially on the weekends to help day care out. I'd put him in bed and let him know he doesn't have to sleep, but has to stay quietly in bed. Maybe give him a book or two?
2.5 seems too young to cut out naps all together. Maybe see if daycare will do the same? It's probably harder to insist he stay in bed there if they are worried he might wake up the other kids.

PS - maybe don't freaking take any sleep tips from me. I've been up all night as tho I have a newborn. I have a 7 mo. So. I clearly don't know what I'm talking about. Lol.
