Super exciting stuff for a Tuesday!
None of this really matters except to my pinterest planning because we don't have to decide for another 6-8 months.
Here are the basic options for a new build. In an artsy area- think galleries and coffee shops all around. It's a 3 level row home- first floor is tile with carpet in the den, 2nd level is the living space (kitchen, dining, living) and is all hardwood, 3rd level is bedrooms with all carpet. Light fixtures will be black, white, or cream fabric drums.
We are going with options 3 or 4 for the cabinets. 12 is the tile option we're going with (the other was white)
Upgrade board
DH wants to go with floors 8 or 9 because they're included. He has no other reasoning. I want C or D from the upgrade board. They should not show as many scratches and I like the wider planks. Neither of us wants option 7 because we have white haired dogs. Been there, done that.
I think you'll need some contrast and warmth so I'd go with the upgrade D for the floors.
I don't have much of an opinion between the standard colors or D, but I agree with the above- I feel like C will make the house overly white/gray. I'd want some contrast.

This is why I'm thinking D but I have time to decide.

I love gray everything but I think gray floors in addition to gray cabinets, carpet, etc will make things look very monochromatic and possibly bleak/stark.
As someone with dark floors, I vote NOT B. They do scratch easily and show every hair and crumb.
I also have dark floors, and I love them!
I don't clean, though (and I generally don't have high cleanliness standards). LOL.
Lately, I've been obsessed with gray -- I love it in hotels where we stay. I would love gray everything...again, going against what others have said here (i.e., I don't care about contrast).
Maybe just ignore everything I've posted. Hahahahahaha.

See, I feel like we have similar taste and I remember loving your dining room for some reason (but I can't remember it very well).
I feel like we either need to go with dark floors or the gray in such an artsy area. I think the warm brown just won't fit with the cabinets without it feeling shabby chic.

Just keep looking a inspiration photos.
In the end, though, if you go w/ gray, I'd just try to incorporate some color in other ways. Backsplash or paint, etc.
I love the look of grey floors, but I do just worry about it being too monochromatic.
I am not bothered with contrast, the floors are grey, most of my furniture pieces are grey. I just plan on adding pops of colour with accent pieces (rugs, decor, pillows, throws).
I probably have rather boring taste lol.
Oh, I know I'm boring and predictable when it comes to home decor. lol!
I like changing out the colors of my accent pieces with the seasons. I love bold blues and greens in the spring and summer, for example. Red and gold for the holidays.

You also nave no pets. I would probably like mine better if I didn't. lol
YES. Those fuzzy jerks with their nails and long hair!
See I'd pick the darker cabinets, the grey floors and then add colour with the backsplash, paint and accents. Like the mosaic tiles that have pops of colour in them. Not a lot but just enough to make it interesting.
With throw pillows, paintings and photos on the wall and your furniture you can break it up.
I think the gray floors will date quickly and floors are expensive to replace.
that's what I was going to say. Gray floors are super trendy. I don't think you can go wrong with a medium brown wood. (Lol). Even red oak, while not trendy, looks good if the stain is fairly neutral and uniform.
