Luke discovers he's a Jedi. Trained by Yoda. Father is sith but ultimately turns good & kills the emperor. Turns out Leia is his sister. She likes a smuggler with a wookie. Lando Calrissian is smoooooth.
You forgot the all important Han shot first.
I was gonna add it but my meeting started.
Three movie slightly extended synopsis:
Luke discovers he's a Jedi. Trained by Yoda b/c Obi Wan dies hella fast. Father is sith but ultimately turns good & kills the emperor. Turns out Leia is his sister. She likes a handsome smuggler with a wookie who shot first. Two droids follow everyone around, one of which is a whiner. The force is more accurate the computer targeting systems. Death Star blows up. Twice.
Lando Calrissian remains smoooooth despite the deal being altered.
For me, Star Wars was shown every Christmas on TV as a kid. And that's what it makes me think of. Christmas. So.... Star Wars is actually a Christmas movie!!!!
Not to be confused with the Star Wars Christmas Special which may be the worst atrocity of the all.

It's on YouTube. I've never watched it (wasn't born yet, lol) but I'm tempted to do so now. My H will probably kill me if I try to get him to join in. I do remember watching a different Star Wars special but that one had ewoks in it since it was post Jedi.

We just finished re-watching the movies in the machete order: New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, and Return of the Jedi. Skipped Phantom Menace.
Ok, this is, like, the funniest thing ever to me. I YouTubed it when they said the changes were going to be made to 6 to encompass Hayden Christiansen, and it is HILARIOUS. He's fumbling with his robes and looking like the most unsure spirit to ever haunt. "You want me to stand where? There? I'm not sure, Yoda, what about here? Ohhh I never get anything right."
The least they could have done is put Ewan McGregor in scene, too!
It's sooooooooo horrible!
But it was the only version we could buy at the time. I don't know if they have versions without the digital enhancements now?
Newp.
Well, maybe.
But this is, what, the third version Lucas has cut? I mean, maybe it did take Stanley Kubrick 9 years to make a movie, but at least when he was done, he was done.
I just watched the original for the first time (I've seen the newer ones). Omg it is so fucking bad. How is this a big deal?
Maybe you had to be three/four like I was when I first watched the originals? I don't know, I have deep nostalgia for these movies. I'm sure the latest one will be pretty impressive in it's cinematography and special effects at least. And George Lucas wasn't there to insist on some kind of ridiculousness this go 'round like Jar Jar Binks.

Lucas is often the master of his own undoing. He needs more "no" people in his inner circle.

My best friend made me watch all of the older ones (4,5,6) because she was horrified. With DH, I've seen bits and pieces of the newer ones. I don't really care if I ever see the latest one. I definitely prefer Star Trek.
It's probably flameful that I have never watched Love Actually though, based on the other thread. It's on my Netflix list, but haven't gotten around to it.
I love, love, love the one with Darth Vader calling the Emperor:
MH and I say to each other all the time, "And who's gonna give me a loan, jackhole? YOU???"
Go for Papa Palpatine will never not be funny. It's on my list of stuff to play when I'm in a foul mood and nothing else can cheer me up. Even then, I'll usually chuckle.
