I just started listening to Skipping Christmas by John Grisham. Ok so far. Just finished listening to The Goldfinch by Donna Tarrt. I loved it, and am n the process of reading through reviews. I enjoy when a book is so split between liked it/didn't like it, since that makes for interesting discussions.
Qotw: not yet, we watch stuff during Christmas week. My favorites are Charlie Brown Christmas, The Grinch, and Christmas Vacation.
I just finished reading Rites of Passage by Joy Hensley. It was my 54th book of the year. I've surpassed my Goodreads 2015 challenge goal by 2 books. Woo hoo!
QOTW: Have you watched any holiday movies/specials this year? Not yet.
I'm reading The Penguin Lessons by Tom Michell. I'm not very far but I like it. I'm a sucker for animal books.
QOTW: We have watched a few -- Frosty and Rudolph when they were on TV (we don't have cable, so it was fun flashing back to my childhood when you had to watch things on the network schedules), Charlie Brown Christmas, Elf, and the Muppet Christmas Carol.
I am reading The Kite Runner. It's pretty good. I can see how people find the topic and writing to be engrossing.
QOTW: Not yet, but my husband and I will do our annual movie watching (Love Actually, Christmas Vacation and Charlie Brown) tomorrow night, while we open presents and decorate cookies.
I'm currently listening to The Talented Mr. Ripley on audible. I only have about an hour left. When it's done I'll start HP and the Sorcerer's Stone. I haven't picked up an actual book in a few months. Now that my semester is over I'll have more time to actually read. I need to see what I have on my TBR shelf.
QOTW: Have you watched any holiday movies/specials this year? Home Alone last week. The weather has been so warm here that it hasn't felt very Christmasy!
Welcome! Have you read HP before or is this your first time through?

I'm reading Tail Gait. I just got in a package from my Mom (not a Christmas package, but still full of fun goodies) and I could not wait to crack it open!
QOTW: I love Christmas specials/movies. I plan my holiday watching to get all my favorites in. I've already seen Emmet Otter's Jug Band Christmas, The Santa Clause, The Santa Clause, and tonight's movie is White Christmas. I'm waiting until Family Man comes on tv. I really should get it on DVD. And I still have A Charlie Brown Christmas, A Christmas Story, and Auntie Mame to go.
I'm finishing up Joyland by Stephen King, and also reading Bazaar of Bad Dreams, which was a hanukah gift from DH. Some of the stories are listed separately in goodreads, so I'm counting them toward my total!
