Update: I called today and spoke to a manager since the owner is on sick leave indefinitely. She was pretty bitchy on the phone and questioned whether I was telling the truth, but the senior stylist did say she will fix the highlights tomorrow at 5. I'm nervous to go back without an apology because I don't know how they'll treat me, but they weren't willing to do a refund. Wish me luck. Their yelp review is still on the line here...
--- So I had my hair appointment today at 1:30 for a cut and partial highlight. I got out at 5:00pm and while my hair doesn't look bad or in need of color correction, I am unhappy with just about all of my experience at the salon, the service I received, and the outcome. I legit came home and cried.
I was thinking I would email or call the owner to ask for either a credit towards another visit with a different stylist or a partial refund. But I don't know if I'm being unreasonable.
-The stylist was running late, so we didn't start till almost 2:00. That didn't bother me but I'm mentioning it because she apologized countless times for running late, but that's it.
-As I mentioned before they kept trying to talk me out of the highlights I wanted since my hair to them looked good. They suggested a new coloring technique that was supposedly going to give my desired results, and I agreed to that. My stylist consulted with a great senior stylist and confirmed everything. As she did my hair I questioned several times whether or not she was doing enough of the highlights, and even asked her to do more because I was skeptical. Fast forward the the end result, my hair looks untouched except for the toner successfully taking out the brassiness. I can't see the highlights, and told her as much after it was dried. She said "well they're there".
-The stylist kept bitching about her last client, and also about how stressful her job is and it's just not even fun. She specifically asked what was wrong with everyone Getting highlights during in the winter when it was the time to go dark, complaining about how long they take...as I'm sitting there getting highlights.
-She washed my hair painfully three times before getting the color out and never used conditioner.
-The worst part, because of no conditioner and multiple washings, brushing out my hair was the most painful thing ever. And I have a grabby toddler. My hair never tangles and somehow it was just giant knots. It took over 30 minutes of her yanking, me repeatedly saying "oww" and holding my head, and asking if she had leave in conditioner to which she said she was almost done. My head still hurts over an hour later, and I will probably need to shower tonight because my hair is so coarse and snarly. It was just awful. ---
So mostly this is a vent. I talked to my H and he agrees wjth my plan to call the owner on Tuesday when they reopen. What a miserable experience and waste of $120 and a whole afternoon.
Was the owner there today? I probably wouldn't have left if I wasn't satisfied. But I know sometimes it's not as bad when you leave and then once you really think about it it seems worse. I hope they are able to at the very least redo your hair so you get what you originally wanted.

The salon closed at 4:00 so by the time she was done everyone had long gone home except her and the receptionist. Even the senior stylist was gone by the time my color was partially dry so I couldn't consult with anyone tonight.

I'm sorry this new place turned out bad too I'd definitely call because of all of that. Getting a professional cut and color isn't cheap and it's supposed to be pampering and this does sound pleasant! I hope the owner gives you your money back or does something to improve the situation!

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience! Your hair is so pretty I can't imagine it would be that hard for them to do what you want. That lady sounds like a real idiot.
I hope they fix it the way you want. I would definitely find a new salon after this though.
Absolutely! They had 41 4-5 star reviews so I expected much better. I miss my DC stylist. He was so amazing in every way. I had nothing but satisfaction in 3 years.
